Probably because Older Spike is dressed kinda like Spike Spiegel and also because it’s ‘Spike’ so it kinda makes sense. Plus the sense of carelessness in Older spike’s stance and face mixed with the younger version who is posed very outwardly and full of energy in comparison might remind you of an interaction between Spike and Ed. Not to mention most Cowboy Bebop artwork is done in a mugshot style with at least one or two characters facing the camera, interacting side by side.
