Sorry, but no, that is a logical fallacy.  
Lets remind you all of an important, yet silly detail: THEY ARE DRAWINGS, for fuck sake. You can add as many attributes as you want, sentient, human like, anthro. But they will STILL be drawings.
 
They have NO FEELINGS outside of the imaginary world, so getting butthurt over an underage character is like getting mad at a panting with rain on it, just because you hate rain, even tho its not real.

Drawing or not, getting aroused by the depiction of a minor who has the mind of a minor strikes me as wrong.
 
There are a couple of ways to look at this. I’ve heard the argument that R34 or pony isn’t bestiality, because the characters are highly intelligent and could “consent”. Basically, the character is human enough.
 
By that logic, if the characters are “human enough,” then a depiction of child character in the same universe is “close enough” to being a child.
 
Am I going to make a stink about it? No, not really. I just like debating. But if you’re calling the ponies close enough to being humans, then the filly characters are close enough to being children.
 
 
But I think the main thing is, “Why do you care, Jay?” It’s the Internet. At any point in time, a comment can be ignored for any reason.
 
If you cared that much about “the haters,” then you probably should have seen the hate coming as a popular artist in the community. If you saw it coming and you didn’t want it, then you shouldn’t have taken the commission regardless of how you feel.
 
People will be silly. You can insult them all day and attribute your troubles to them, but I think it’s better to just plan for silliness.

To be fair, Jay himself is pretty damn unstable. We went into full emotional meltdown during one of his streams when trying to prove to other artists he could totally do anatomy without references guys.  
In a dark way, it was hilarious.
