But it makes the most sense, because it’s simple. Think about it. Celestia can move both the sun and moon, but Luna hasn’t been shown to be able to do that. Instead of taking over the day/night cycle and being the sole princess capable of doing so, she wishes to bring eternal night, because she cannot move the sun herself(my theory anyway).
And, it’s a show that runs on cliche’s. Younger sister. Weaker. Not liked as much by public. Gains dark power. Dark power makes Luna into powerhouse. Defeats Celestia. Gets sealed by Elements. Gets cleansed by Elements. Cliche. So, it’s this theory of mine that kinda proves Luna is definitely second banana. And I use information that is canon from the show, due to lack of evidence suggesting otherwise, rather than some complicated theory someone came up.
Yeah, but I don’t really like the natural power disparity that it suggests if Celestia is responsible for moving a mass 27 million times larger than Luna’s. Doesn’t suit, thematically, if there’s a very good reason for Luna to be second banana.
Occams Razor.
A freakin tear in reality. A rupture in space and time itself that allows energy in.
Or they move the celestial bodies based on the evidence that the stars do not move.
Simplest is usually correct.
Hm. That’s a good point. I mean, that’s something you could ignore if some other set of mechanisms made for a really good story, but.
Have to go with the ‘Days of Wasp and Spider’ version, then, where the sun is actually sort of a tear in reality that allows energy in, rather than an actual mass of hydrogen big enough to undergo fusion.
…Huh. That’s… huh.
…Well, I guess I’m holding my breath until we see their solar system spin in the show.
@Kadziet
People don’t notice details. Thankfully, I always notice details. The theory that they rotate the planet can be shot down in a single sentence.
The stars remain motionless and do not move when the sun and moon are raised or lowered.
Done. I’ve watched a few episodes where they had shown the stars along with the rising/setting of the celestial bodies. No star movement. You can say it’s lazy animation and that it is pointless to animate a moving star filled sky, but the fact that they don’t move is fact enough the planet is stationary and the princesses are indeed moving the celestial bodies themselves.
Go for it. Original credit to ‘Jordanis’ on FimFiction, if you’re dropping names on the finished project.
Don’t mind me. I just like overthinking things. :P
@Vraddock
Yeah, that makes sense.
…Huh. I also like this interpretation very much. Do you mind if I use this in something?
Equestria and its moon are actually very similar in size. Celestia and Luna act in concert to prevent them from becoming tidally locked to each other. If they became tidally locked, then the moon would appear to hang motionless above a fixed spot on Equestria, and the two bodies would rotate around their barycenter so slowly that each day might take an entire lunar month–sunrise would emphatically not be on time.
Best theory I’ve heard is that Celestia actually just uses the Sun to anchor herself, and she uses that to spin the planet around the sun.
It’s actually orbital correction, but to everypony, it looks like she’s raising the sun.
I dunno. Just a drawing. :3
