famous retcon/inconsistency
It was a mixup at the storyboard stage, but it could be pretty easily explained by actual child behavior, which is to congregate with other kids of the same age in a crisis when parents/guardians are out of reach.
That’s part of what I like about the idea actually - they don’t need to be very best friends or anything.
They can just be two ponies occassionally brought together and struggling to figure the other out and get along, without even expecting to end up as friends for life.
I love flashback stuff like this. Sweetie & Scoots, Fluttershy & Rainbowdash (the awkward teenage years), AJ/Pinkie/Rarity all meeting in Ponyville before Twilight etc.
I don’t think that would make a great series, but it would make a good flashback episode. Plus we don’t know for sure how long Sweetie & Scoots knew each other prior to meeting Bloom, so it’s likely they didn’t have many interesting “adventures” prior to forming the CMC team. It seems implied they became aquantences due to both being blanks like Bloom was.
One famous retcon/inconsistency was the CMC appeared together briefly in the first episode.

I want to read a fan series about their pre-CMC adventures where they are shy outcasts.
How they met and everything.
Pre-trio dynamic stuff where Miss Ditzy Bright Side and Sportspone wonder how they even ended up hanging out but in the end learn important lessons from each other.
Bloom is probably my fav’ CMC, but I will admt, it feels like Scoots & Sweets are getting neglected a bit. They didn’t get any solo episodes at all this season, without sharing it with the other CMC.
