Problem here is that she used her magic against them in the very end, citing that they’d just broken the law, which allowed her to use her magic now. So she obviously COULD use magic against them she just needed them to break the law first.
 
If they hadn’t done any proveable wrong doing and had just accidents happening around the ranch with them clearly the culprits but without hard proof it would have made sense. But they were outright mugging and robbing the town already, pretty clearly committing crimes, so they had already committed lots of crimes.

Except when you drive recklessly and almost run over people for kicks you also get jailed for the crime in addition to having your license taken away.
 
This would be like a judge simply impounding your car after you ran someone off the road for kicks.

Like I said in the IDW thread, this is no different than taking away someone’s driver license after they abuse their driving privileges.
 
Decepticolt, Goldcap and Zappityhoof thought they could do whatever they wanted just because they knew magic. So Twilight justly punished them by taking their magic away.

Imprisonment would be appropriate but I’ll take what I can get at this point, I’m just glad the issue didn’t end with them all becoming best friends for some inexplicable reason.

Hah. I actually don’t have any problem with her punishment as taking away magic from criminals seems like a better sentence IMO than alot of other ones.  
I just find it funny to contrast the similarity between her and Starlight is all XD
 
 
The one issue is that its clearly a BAD sentence idea since they’re clearly planning on continuing evil doing in the future and aren’t sorry at all for their actions, so an actual imprisonment would be better IMO.  
But twilight’s not known for being smart in the comics, just smarmy about things :p

And that’s a fair point. I don’t even have that much of a problem with what’s happening here, but I understand where the critics are coming from. Nevermind that the cattle arc was epically stupid.

Well, my personal preference would’ve been to take them to a prison for a few days where they’re kept without magic. Yes, they don’t have access to their magic either way, but it’s still a little different from her using her magic to do so.
 
And again, it’s not that big a deal to me.
