Replying to your reply from earlier. Don’t check the thread often. I think that you misunderstood what I meant by that and you’re misrepresenting my argument. I’m not trying to imply that because it’s a kids show they shouldn’t try to strive for better writing, I’m saying that the mantra of the show is friendship is magic and that at the end of the day they’re going to go down the friendship route.
 
Discord was also not really ever at a point where he was ever willing to change until Fluttershy, whereas starlight was in a position where she was far more mentally unstable and twilight had to reach her on a personal level in order to convince her to stop, so she was willing to accept punishment by the time the mane 6 made their decision. If you remember Discord wasn’t exactly willing to be reformed and he still continues to be a thorn in the side of the mane6. so I really don’t think he’s a comparable example.
 
For NMM I was using her just to show that there were ponies who’ve done terrible things and redeemed. You could make the argument she gave into the darkness on her own, but maybe that was a bad example. So I’ll give you that.
 
To me I thought the redemption worked fine conceptually, at least from my POV. I saw her as somebody who was left alone to fester in her own ideas but that’s just what I took away from it. Mostly because it seems like they’re going to have more time to expand on it later, and that her learning about friendship is in a way her “community service”. If you’re only looking at it at face value it was a very ridiculous reason, and I’m not denying that. the show also acknowledges that it’s a ridiculous reason. But it made more sense to me than Sunset Shimmer’s redemption.. And like that one, I think they’re going to expand upon it in later episodes. The show is more about trying to preach friendship, and it is family entertainment so you can’t get away from the fact it’s going to be a bit simple at times. But I’m not here to argue the nuances of the finale. Whether you like it or not that’s up to you.
 
Anyways that’s just what I think. Was it perfect? No. But I still liked it for what it was.

I think radiant hope is a sympathetic numbskull who who tried to do the right thing but didn’t think her plan through enough. She seemed to think that fixing her one mistake was more important then the saftey of an entire citys population. How she planned to keep chrysalis in line I have no idea and recruiting her was a bad decision on the writers part if they didnt want peope questioning her sincerity on not wanting to hurt anyone.

I really enjoy the comics and only a few things have ever really ticked me off but chrysalis isnt one of them. One of the good things about the comics is that because they are supplementary to the show, The issues you dont like dont have to be canon if you dont want them to be.

In a hypothetical scenario where the Changelings had not left immediately and Hope would have actually had to do something about them, I guess there would have been some temporary Changeling trouble in the Empire. I’m assuming Hope was counting on Sombra defeating them after she restored his strength and freed the Umbrum (of course that plan of action wouldn’t really work out for her, but she didn’t know about the Umbrum’s deception yet).

Again they still takeover whether she planned it that way or not she caused it even once Sombra takes over he just lets her do whatever they want while he goes back into the castle with Hope, what do you think a bunch of changelings are going to do in an empire full of ponies when left to their own devices?

I did read the story.
 
I made sure to read the part where Radiant Hope reveals that she was planning to backstab Chrysalis and the rest of the changelings, had they stuck around. She wasn’t really planning to let them keep the Empire, she was just using them for her plan.
 
The Umbrum did not have good intentions, I never said that. They are very evil and the real villains of the story. I said they tricked Hope into thinking they were imprisoned unjustly. It’s the reason she tries to help them at all. The reason she was not skeptical like Cadance is that the Umbrum had 1000 years to butter her up and make a good impression. But they failed to keep up the act for Cadance because her magic hurt them.

Wow, your all over the place when it comes to the villains. Oh well, at least you dont defend their actions because “OH MY GAWD SO CUTE” and readily admit they were jerkasses. Just a question but why do you think chysalis is redeemable? She never came off as anything more then a typical monster of the day villain to me and her hammy villain shtick is one of the best things in the comics, at least in my opinion.

They had no reason not to trust her she said she would help and that she convinced Cadance to help which she did Cadance even says she will help, they attacked her because Cadance was a princess yeah nothing but good intentions there right?
 
I guess I must have cause I didn’t see Sombra turn back into Sombra at any point he still looked like a lout to me but hey if he got changed back that’s great and I take back everything I said.

I actually want chrysalis and her changelings to be reformed condemning an entire race for just trying to survive when a truce is possible doesn’t sit right with me, I wouldn’t trust IDW to do it however since they have a biased against her.
 
Sombra was just all bad and that was fine he was a good villain who used actions not words but according to IDW liking Sombra that way is wrong that’s not how he should be he should be extremely talkative and have an idiot girlfriend and he should have a forlorn backstory and be woobied at the end that’s the proper way to enjoy his character.
