What is a better indicator of the strength of two ponies’ friendship than their willingness to smack their hindquarters together in satisfaction? Hardly anything, that much is true.
M.A. Larson hit a grand slam with this episode. It’s without a doubt one of the best in the entire series. This certainly won’t be the last scene from said episode I’ll be vectoring.

Indeed, my friend! It’s nuances like this that make the show wonderful.
I won’t argue with that, but Lyra has her beat in my eyes. She’s a close second though.
That might be true. As far as I know, we never witnessed them bumping flanks until Slice of Life. That doesn’t mean they didn’t do it before, at which point DT and SS saw the exchange and started copying them.
However, we can’t rule out the possibility of both pairs of friends coming up with the same gesture independently.
