Couldn’t have said it better myself. I would like to see more interactions or even full episodes between the two of them like this. Heck, I’m all for the “Gauntlet of Fire” ep to be with Spike as the ep’s protagonist and Starlight as the deuteragonist if it comes down to it.

The writers very knowingly flodded the show with shipping fodder for both FinnXBubblegum and FinnXMarceline…  
and even one episode that hinted at BubblegumXMarceline  
Until eventually, they sat down, thought through their options, debated which ship would become cannon, then resolved the issue by writing in a brand new character who no one had ever heard of before, who Finn then began to date…

Dude, I’m a Sparity shipper, but still I really enjoyed the interactions with Starlight and Spike. Not to mention I really like the fact that Starlight lives here at the castle with both of them, so Spike now has somepony else to talk to. Plus, we all know that Spike trumps Twilight when it comes to social matters. And I don’t think it shatters or harms Sparity at all. If anything, I thought I saw a little of Flutterspike too–Rarity and Fluttershy were both trying not to laugh at Spike with the whole poster thing, while everypony else was like “M….f….., you ain’t got a chance, just sit down, shut up and let the grown ups talk.”

I’m gonna be the odd one out. I’m a Sparity shipper, but holy bananas is this something fantastic. I INCREDIBLY enjoyed how much these two played off of eachother and really look forward to more interactions between them.

Shipping them is one thing.  
Finding so much support in their first and only episode (well, double episode) together, that’s presumably the confusing part.
 
Though, eh, I see less of a romantic undertone and more of Spike the Number 1 Assistant being a good fit for Starlight the Lost.  
She needs help, and Spike’s all about helping - it’s generally when he shines the brightest too.  
I’m hoping, though I’m not foolish enough to expect it to actually happen, that they’ll have Spike be prominent in helping her learn the lessons.  
The way it was done in the episode was actually perfect; Have Twilight make the lesson, then get her away before she ruins it with her… Twilight-ness. But Starlight still needs help, so send Equestria’s Number 1 Assistant with her; There’s no better help to be found.

I want something to happen between these two. just so I could see how all the sparity shippers would react, it will be hilarious.

They made a great duo in the season opener.

Not really shipping Sparlight but they were easily the best part of The Crystalling. Especially when she got Spike talking about saving the Crystal Empire.

Like how Ash needs to tap Serena, Spike needs to tap Starlight.

Oh please goddamn it, spike! He has so many supposed “what if” girlfriends, I’m still to get my first one. How low is it when BABY dragon has more swag than me
