I figured I would cut to the core issue; that (according to my impression) the show was trying to insist on a two-year period through season 5.
Until I came across that, I had never really worried about it, because you are very correct that they constantly play fast and loose with the timelines.
You’re not dressing any of my other points.
I don’t remember the specifics, but there was something during the latter part of season 5 that indicated that only two years had passed since the pilot, or something like that.
Nobody ever said that the 1st 5 seasons lasted 2 years, and the show’s never been consistent with timelines, so why are you expecting consistency now where there wasn’t any before?
Though I am a bit sad we never saw baby bump Cadence. As it is, the only pregnant pony we’ve ever seen is Twilight in S01E01, and she’s not actually pregnant.
Why do bronies expect the show to use every possible plot line it can? It’s unrealistic. And it’s not like them having a child was just introduced out of the blue, we had an episode in season 5.
I dunno, I just feel like we were cheated out of a potentially good plotline or two. Or maybe it just cheapens the whole “having a baby” thing if we never get to see any of the development beforehand (what I’m writing is probably only barely close to what I’m actually trying to express, but whateves)
I don’t know… Maybe because some people see pregnant women as “disgusting creatures”?
Why does it matter?
Yeah, that right there is my main problem with having the baby just suddenly be born on the season premiere. They should’ve left that for the season finale so we could actually see Cadence being legitimately preggers.

Except we barely saw any of her term.
