To be fair, the artist seems to be fixated on transformations, especially mermaids, with almost all of their images being this particular set.
 
As for the story, I would have personally found it more interesting if Twilight, who appeared in that dimension as a mermaid for some inexplicable reason, would have happened upon her friends in a monstergirl world.
 
You know, Applejack as a centaur, Rainbow Dash as a harpie, Rarity as a drider, and so forth.
