Ah-DDUUUHHH%! So simple% Rarity does things with fabrics and such, I’m sure a Rock Pouch is nothing for her. I suppose she might not have any supplies to do it, but she’s more than capable of using her charm or wealth to get some. Ppff! C’mon~ Ponky is such a silly pony who loves going from one extreme to another~ Anxiety is something I share~ xD

This and this, pretty much. It was a plot hiccup that slightly disrupted my suspension of disbelief for a brief moment until I realized how easily it could be handwaved away; I suspect most of the people talking seriously about how it nearly (or actually) ruined the episode for them are people who were inclined to dislike the episode anyway and are trumpeting anything that could justify that opinion.

I wonder if Rarity would really be into creating a knock-off product though. I mean someone made those rock pouches. As an entrepreneur herself, I don’t know that Rarity would support counterfeiting even to help a friend. Maybe she could make one of her own design, sure, but again Pinkie wanted to get Maud a gift, not get Rarity to make a gift for her to give to Maud.
 
None of this matters, season 7 Rarity will make a rock pouch for Maud and Pinkie will also buy one and Maud will have two rock pouches. Oh, those wacky ponies!
