Alternatively, she could be visiting another country/nation and the skyline isn’t supposed to be a familiar one.
It doesn’t have to be Canterlot, she’s the ruler of an entire country not just a city, she can have castles all over equestria for the matter

It was first applied to literally all of the alicorns. But all of them sans Twilight ended up as supporting non-characters so no one cares anymore.

That leaves us with two options.
A: There was some slacking in between

If only we knew how long before that Celestia and Luna dealt with Discord the first time.
Hence the first part of my corrections.
Problem is if Celestia has seen exactly 1,000 years of sunsets, she would have been age ZERO when she banished Luna to the moon. I don’t think she was zero years old when that happened.

Well she’s definitely been alive for at least a thousand years (and almost surely quite a bit more), so it could potentially be in the millions.
