And that is the big problem. The story not needed a happy ending, is that really necessary to keep sombra alive? It would be better if hope ended with her having sombra’s horn and go to that quest of saving princess amore by her own, it would be a much better ending.
@Danilo
How was it terrible? hope abandoned her destiny as a princess to help the one she loved, and sombra learned that just because your family are monsters, doesn’t mean you have to, and single handedly saved the empire. They both deserved a happy ending after all that they’ve been through
Not a descendant of Amore necessarily; “Very distant relative” makes me think of her being descended from Amore’s seventh cousin or something, someone who Amore had never met/known, the kind of relative you have to do research to realize you’re even related.
That backstory killed that entirely. She was just some random Pegasus who appeared out of nowhere in the woods. I have zero idea how she even has Amore’s bloodline and her entire backstory is almost a plothole with how they try and explain her.
I beg to differ.
Cadence being a distant descendant to Amore makes more sense than this.
So there is in fact a connection between Cadance and Amore. It’s just horribly vague.
So nothing new.
In other words, there is no absolute explanation where Cadance came from or what her connection to the Crystal Empire is. I’d complain about the vagueness but the fandom is great at filling in gaps in canon.
I’ll take this one, then.
To be precise, the quotes were:
“Is the “Princess Amore” in your book an ancestor of Princess Cadence? Or just a similar name?”
“I think of her as a very distant relative.”
Oh, no, sorry for the confusion. Someone asked AKR if Cadance was descended from Amore and AKR said “I think of her as a very distant relative.”
A very distant relative of Celestia? That’s not mutually exclusive with being the descendant of the Crystal Empire.
Amy Keating Rogers said she sees Cadance as a “very distant relative” (and I figure that was probably just some vague justification for the historical echos theme she had going on in the Journal of the Two Sisters). So probably not a descendant proper.
that works, I also believe that the two may also be related but as uncle and niece, and that after Sombra took over, Cadance wound up in the future by unusual means
Curse you, Expanded Universe!
The latter is going into some really big stretching. When you have to introduce things like that to keep your headcanon right, then it might as well be dead anyways.
Cadence could actually be Sombra’s great great great great granddaughter. Or maybe Hope/Starswirl/Celestia (maybe Starswirl, considering this is his kind of thing) hurled Cadence into the future to protect her or something.
@soundtea
Oh.
Well, it would have been a fun theory. Sorry OP.
