@40kponyguy
While I don’t think they’d be winners with those tunes, I think it’s a great shame that neither of them got to the final. Moldova’s in particular was really catchy.
@EddersCPFC
I’ll post a link to those entries I mentioned that didn’t get through (Ireland,Moldova) when I get on my laptop then you can check them out for yourself.
The guy that sang for Ireland was an ex Westlife band member.
@40kponyguy
Yeah I knew that if Aus had won, they would have paired up with another country and they would have hosted it. Agree though that it probably would have been us.
I heard Ireland’s was good, it was a shame they didn’t get through. They were pretty much dominant at the contest in the 90s and spawned one of the best episodes of any comedy show ever because of it :P
@40kponyguy
I don’t think the US is going to enter. We have our own self-important talent competitions. Also, we got a frickton of states, so there is still some competition.
@EddersCPFC
If Australia won, they get to choose a European country to host the next year.
I’d like to think they may chuck it our way.
Must admit, I wasn’t impressed with the new voting system either.
Wasn’t impressed with some of the songs that got through (Sorry Georgia, but that song was definitely not to my liking), whilst others got knocked out despite having pretty good songs (Belarus, Ireland, Moldova).
As for non EU countries, you could say the same for Russia.
@40kponyguy
I just find it a bit weird how Australia are in a song competition for European countries that’s all. :P Although I liked their 2015 version, but really I wasn’t so keen on their 2016 entry. It would have been hilarious if they won it this year mind (which reminds me, I don’t like the new voting system).
@EddersCPFC
Probably because they stand a better chance of getting a decent score.
England usually get a very low score, regardless of whether our song’s any good or not.
@40kponyguy
No, I saw a bit of it on TV but I don’t really take much of an interest in those types of programs. I might look at the link though, thank you very much.
@BlazingDazzlingDusk
Daft question, did you watch the show?
If not, check out Russia’s entry. There’s a link on the second comment here.
Stage performance was brilliant.
Starts a bit slow.
@BlazingDazzlingDusk
Thanks. Must admit, the coat of arms on the Spanish flag wasn’t the easiest thing to draw either. Needed to get it fairly close though.
@EddersCPFC
I watch it for the music. On a bad year, I might get 5-6 good songs out of it. A good year, maybe 12-15.
This year I got over 20.
Not much chance of us winning at the moment. Whilst our entry this year wasn’t bad, it wasn’t brilliant either. I feel we should have done better than we did, but I reckon around 10-12th place would have been about right.
So, if this pic gets a few more votes here, it’ll be a joint win for Spain (Spanish flag), and UK, (UK artist).
Best scoring Eurovision related picture here has a score of 35 currently.
Remembered way back in 2011, there were 2 acts which had a very big difference in the sizes of the singers.
Neither of these acts got through the semi finals.
Armenia’s pint sized stunner I was disappointed this one didn’t get through.
And Croatia’s large woman (The guy with the top hat that walks around her shows just how tall she is. Looks quite good, but she’s just… big)
Neat!
And a Hello from Northwest UK from me.
Well, this is now the highest scoring Eurovision related picture on here. So a joint win for UK (artist), and Spain (featured).
UK haven’t won the contest since 1996.

Links to the two songs as promised earlier.
(Almost forgot).

Realised I didn’t actually answer your question.
What do I think of Australia being in the Eurovision?
I’m watching purely for the music, although the whole show’s usually fun.
So… Another country means more music.
Last 2 entries were pretty good too.
What next?
China and the USA entering? (Seeing as they got to watch it this year for the first time).
Probably because they stand a better chance of getting a decent score.
England usually get a very low score, regardless of whether our song’s any good or not.
Good point. I’m sure they love Eurovision more than the UK does at least :P
Bleh, they’re European enough.
I watch it for the music as well, but the main reason why I love it so much is the whole atmosphere and character behind it.
What do you of Australia now competing in it these days? Not the biggest fan if I’m honest.
Alright, I watched it. It was quite good, not bad. Thank you.
Let me know what you think.
Like I said, it starts a little slow, with the shadow wings, but gets better.

No problem! Still, it looks good, I like the flag too, especially the detailing.
Thanks. Must admit, the coat of arms on the Spanish flag wasn’t the easiest thing to draw either. Needed to get it fairly close though.

I’m actually British.
