Tip: if pair is formed at the end, it will always break again in the sequel. And again, for same or other formed pair, in sequel. And again, again, again, until writers can’t keep up and do something drastic. Jeez, just calm the f down and let pair be pair, dammit! Monotonous drama for sake of drama is never a good thing.

I don’t know what movies you’re watching, but I’ve seen plenty of movies that have the childhood friend get together with the protagonist. Maybe this isn’t so big in anime.
