#hugabug!
Fuck, I’ve read it all with an accent.
But, yeah, we will need a bigger gun.
Big enough to bath em in iron
As stan lee once said “Nuff said”
The rebellion can’t fight who they can’t pick out.
Control all sides, win every battle, dominate the war. Then sit back and utter, “Checkmate”.
But that’s where you live.
Missed your second part of the original post, my bad.
In the very end she was undone by her hubris, I would never debate that.
“but even there, the best you could say is she was pressed for time. she already screwed up infiltrating the city, the princesses were on high alert, and her invasion date was coming up, so she just used a desperate delaying tactic.”
But think about this: Shining is the only one who can project the shield around Canterlot. The Elements of Harmony and vanilla Celestia are the only powerful enough counters against her. She makes the threat on Canterlot clear to the princesses in some way (don’t ask me how, ‘cos I thought about that, all I could imagine was a “Sunbutt stinks!” letter written in crayon.) She needs to mind control Shining, lest he cut off their one good attack in one go, and gain his powers. That takes time. Mind control indoctrination gives him headaches. They explain that with the strain of shielding. She mindbucks Twilight turning her against the rest of the mane six by the wedding. Twilight’s missing for the attack (she figures a way out, but she is too late to stop Chrysalis anyways).
as I said, that’s not when Chrysalis showed she was dumb as rocks.
but even there, the best you could say is she was pressed for time. she already screwed up infiltrating the city, the princesses were on high alert, and her invasion date was coming up, so she just used a desperate delaying tactic.
what was she gonna do, pointlessly snipe at ponies until twilight came out of the mines, and then scram the fuck out of there? I think she just didn’t see the elements of harmony as a threat.
if she was smart she would have played the part, easily gained twilight’s trust, and drained her too, either leaving her passed out in the mines, or enthralled like the bridesmaids. as-is, she was… adequate, but then went full retard when those two showed up to spoil the wedding.
don’t get me wrong it’s awesome that she’s a dumbass. a smart chrysalis is actually quite terrifying…
You mean when she sent her for the mines?
She was eliminating a key component to the Elements of Harmony superweapon. Twilight’s absence during the ceremony was completely justified given how others felt about her previous behavior towards fake Cadence.
Everyone else was completely fooled by her.

Yep.
well maybe the lovebirds succeeding where the ruler of the sun, and the elements of harmony failed, was just a natural progression to well established character development that led us to expect that those two had the power to save the day.
nah, they were pretty much monkey wrenched in there and made op because weddings
Uuuuuh okaaaaay…
