Emerald puts down his backpack and removes his quill and parchment.
 
Joyride sighs and says, “You are really going to do this right now?”
 
Emerald writes,
 

 
Dear Joyride,
 
I’m fine.

Emerald Jewel
 
PS: I have a present for you.
 

 
Emerald quickly sends off the letter, surprising Joyride slightly when it reappears not two seconds later in front of her.
 
She reads it and gives a smirk. She then looks to Emerald and he hands her the bone statue he made of her.
 
“Pfft. You are such a weirdo.” Joyride says amused, folding the letter and statue and putting it under her cloak, “If you are going to write the rest of them do it quick.”
 
Emerald writes to Hope, making sure not to say that he is currently not in Whitherwater. He isn’t sure how she’d take it. Emerald also quickly writes to Bo to make sure he knows that he is alive. Not that Emerald expects a letter back from the zebra. He is pretty sure they didn’t have a lantern like his.
 
After he sends the letters off he puts his backpack on and they continue on their way.
