well I kinda created this on a whim, I know what the songs about it just so happens that the song can be interpreted in different ways so I drew it like this, I also know all the lyrics since there is only one verse that’s different. and it goes like “ the other night dear ass I lay sleeping I dreamt I held you in my arms, when I awoke dear I was mistaken so I hung my head and cried” The part where they say please don’t take my sunshine away can be like saying don’t take my joy away and when I created rainbow’s joy was her mom and she never told her mom how much she loved her so now she’s just begging that they don’t take away her mom because her mom was there to make her happy when she was crying. I’m probably not making sense but yeah this was my take on the song in this way not the way you are talking about.

…Do people not know that this song is actually about the singer’s lover leaving them for another and the singer begging them to “not take my sunshine away”?
 
…Probably not, since no one ever seems to remember the lyrics aside from the chorus.
