Still doesn’t mean a Cease and Desist will be a standing doom sentence to the project. If it’s handled right then it’s little more than a delay tactic. Microsoft once demanded Google stop its Gmail service for some reason.
 
Didn’t stick, Google managed to get going anyways.
 
It might be made more complex for A Little Bit Different with their infrastructure so scattered all over so it’s not under the authority of any one country’s copyright laws which can make it even harder to stick.

Well I’m not on the team so I don’t have a horse in this race as deep they do. That said, I’m pretty confident they won’t.
 
The character design I think has divorced itself from the originals that they’re at even less of a risk. But even then, the old models were only based on fanon interpretations of Celestia and Luna, which I don’t think were ever part of Hasbro’s official line-up (Celestia was never shown to have a pure-pink mane in the show or the toy design ever, Astrum’s sister Krinita is a different story). They also have different names so I don’t think it’ll register all that much all the same.
 
This was a concern that haunts, or haunted Overmare Studios; another brony game studio I follow for their potential game. So they had to look into it and research it to see how far they can go and deal with it. Then released a video on it to calm the fear and misinformation they find for such things.
 
And as a general thing, Hasbro can’t really copyright an art-style. It may look similar to My Little Pony, but is isn’t using actual show models or featuring any copyrighted characters by not only name, but direct appearance (this goes back to the main characters, not only do they not share the same name with their Hasbro counter-parts but their design is divergent enough to not matter). But back to art-style: they really can’t, nor could they enforce copy-right on an art-style from a 2d medium to a 3d medium. Attempts to do so too would be like trying to copyright the notion of the hero walking off into the sunset, or all buff action heroes need to be Rambo, part of the Rambo franchise, and produced by the IP-holder of Rambo.
 
tl;dr - The grounds to file a legitimate copy-right infringement claim is pretty is pretty fucking thin so I don’t think they’ll get hammered. Despite having released at least TWO operating demos and having a pretty public appearence as well as having already been greenlit for Steam release.

Ambient.Prologue, by A Little Bit Different.
 
It’s still in beta now, this being on the demo for that build. Last I heard they plan on releasing sometime next year maybe, they ran into some problems because they only got one animator, otherwise everything else is finished. The details on that should be in here though.
