It does seem that quality cutesy pictures trump both bad cutesy pictures and quality normal ones, though.  
Ultimately, if you want to be popular, you need to draw what people want to see.
 
You couldn’t exactly come here with wonderful drawings of mountains and waterfalls; It’d almost certainly be deleted for being entirely unrelated to ponies.
 
Ultimately, being a popular artist is a job; Either give up and do the art you like, but be prepared to not make a living with it.  
Or start treating it like a job; You’re going to be working hours you don’t want, doing work you don’t feel like, and dealing with consumers who are idiots.  
It’ll still be leagues better than a ‘normal’ job, if you’re the type to enjoy creative freedom.
 
Sorry for ranting, but it’s a bit of a pet peeve to see artists and entertainers complain about how you can’t just do the art you want to, but have to actually give people what they’re interested in.

The speed that the clouds are moving is disturbing. She should be getting swept off her hooves. Also, AJ is rocking back and forth way too much. Otherwise, great work. Her mane is really well-animated.

Protip ^{(not really pro)} for animators: pick cutesy little pictures like this over detailed stuff because Derpibooru likes them more, and they’re presumably easier to animate.
