Bit of a remake of Work can Wait, now with NEW TECHNOLOGIES. Also because my supply of Marshmallow goodness was running a bit dry lately.
Rarity had never cared for mornings, but like many artists, she felt that when inspiration struck, you should strike back.
However, sometimes that burst of inspiration would be nothing but a dud, and she would be left there with only a vague fog of an idea. Such was her predicament this morning. She lay sprawled out on the overstuffed couch, sketchpad and pen in hand, wracking her brain for some clarity.
Eventually she decided she needed a little boost, brewing a pot of coffee and helping herself to a cup. When the steaming liquid still failed to bring anything but a caffeine rush, she felt that a little music might set her straight. pulling her tablet onto her lap, she started flipping through her collection, looking for something to get her creative juices flowing.
Twenty minutes later, her ideas weren’t going anywhere, but the volume had been creeping up, something she was only made aware of when she heard a soft knocking on the door. Without waiting for a response, the door opened to reveal Sweetie Belle, clad in her favorite pajamas and rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
“Rarity? It’s five in the morning. What’s going on?”
“Oh! Um, Sweetie, I didn’t know you heard that. Sorry darling.”
The younger unicorn climbed up on the couch, settling down in her sister’s lap. She glanced at the tablet, then back to its owner.
“Whatchya doing?”
“Less than I’d like to be, to be honest.”
“…Can I show you something?”
Resigned to not getting anything done this morning, Rarity handed the tablet to the grinning filly, who eagerly began her search, pulling up a video.
“Here watch this, it’s really funny.”
Rarity wasn’t sure how long they sat there together, watching whatever Sweetie happened to find and letting their laughter fill the room. She may not have gotten any work done, but that didn’t mean Rarity felt it was wasted.
