So maybe you have one example of her doing something good although not necessarily living up to her element (kindness)(Didn’t Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Twilight all “risk everything” (considering they were surrounded by a mass of dragons) just to keep an eye on Spike and ensure he didn’t get in danger in Dragon Quest?).
 
However, consider the fact that Fluttershy kicked her brother out (Flutter Brutter), made Pinkie Pie and Rarity cry (Putting your hoof down), avoided the dragon migration and stamped on Rainbow Dash(Dragon Quest), made Rainbow Dash feel nervous during the young flier’s competition rather than reassured (Sonic Rainboom), cared more about a bug getting injured than her friends being in danger (Power Ponies) etc. …

Thats HUGE lie. She risked everything to save her friends from the dragon and you say she asshole? She dedicated her life to helping others and you say she never lives up to her element? You probably never watch the goddamn show if say crap like this.

I like her for that aspect and fan-role as well, but she is also good at flying (when she is not busy crushing into things) and saving other ponies… She is also quite soft and kind underneath as suggested by her interactions with Scootaloo.

Nah… Dash is far less of an asshole than Fluttershy is, considering Fluttershy never lives up to her element…

He made her delusional, induced hallucinations. She wasn’t hiding in a cloud just because she was scared or whatever, if you haven’t noticed, she truly believed that she had already saved the city and was at the moment resting in Cloudsdale after a job well done. He switched the target of her loyalty so that she would forget about her friends, but he never actually managed to remove the loyalty itself.

you make an excellent point there. it may get annoying but yeah she does deserve the praise, she was also the only one to ever have made a sonic rainboom where other’s thought it was impossible so there’s that.

Yeah, she can be a bit boastful at times but she deserved every bit she claims with her deeds and hard work on making herself the best flier there is :P
 
And since you brought Discord, even his magic couldn’t break her loyalty while everypony else was turned into their opposites. All Discord managed to do was redirect her loyalty and make her save Cloudsdale where her childhood friends and (probably) parents live. Plus without her there would be no Equestria as we know it, so yeah… Kinda deserves the praise ;P
