I can’t deny the name was my idea, a real good friend of mine came to me with a cute design and we were just tossing names around; I generally don’t bother to look ‘em up because as you said it’s not like it was the most rare of names or the name of an OC I already knew (I mean, I generally know which OCs are around super often, and I’ll respect that, y’know), it was just a coincidence. ^^; But I’m rather used to getting awkward comments on this site at this point anyway, even if it’s not even my OC.

I should add, if Derpibooru wanted to, they could try to add a unique index to each OC tag so you could have like  
OC:Tender Heart#1232 ( Blizzard, the game studio, does this with their usernames ) and then you could bookmark specifically the Tender Heart you were looking for.
 
I do wish Derpibooru would implement something like that, and duplicate names generates some demand for that feature. It’s been done by others and has good utility to it. I really wish they implemented a system like that.
 
So there are some solutions from a technical standpoint. Duplicate data fields are dealt with all the time as a developer, it’s not a new problem, it just needs an existing solution applied to it. What I said was only one example, there are others that could work out too. So hopefully soooon. :O

I can understand the the annoyance and I don’t think it’s unfounded or anything like that, but I would like to add my two cents (especially considering my own involvement ^^; ):
 
I can’t speak for the other Tender Hearts, but… Tender Heart is not a unique name in the slightest, and I knew that going into it. It’s a name that has been used by characters for decades. :O

It’s a cute name, and I was aware that Nips has a character of the same name, but I had no intention of copying him. It’s a nice name, fits a general character personality type, and goes along the lines of MLP’s literal naming scheme. There are also other fursona’s with the name that predate any of the pony OC’s of the same name by yearssss and I was aware of those too.

Do you think we can all agree on ONE character to be called “Mary”? There will ALWAYS be duplicate names, try looking for characters named “Mary” on any given image search. :P
 
I really think it’s silly to debate over duplicate names unless it’s like super specific copying, and intended to leech off others. Something like “Sir Jollyrancher P. Winston of Planet 36 the 4th” might be a hard one to argue that it is okay to copy, so there are times where it is a bad idea. But stealing is one thing, and coincidence is different thing. In a perfect world we could all have unique names but with how many people there are it becomes really tricky.

You have never used Facebook have you? Or looked for a celebrity. This problem DOES exist with IRL people too. I’ve delt with it plenty of times when having to look up a “John Smith”. XD  
It’s annoying, I agree, but I won’t be filling a complain with Mr. Smith’s mother anytime soon.
 
We all bump into conflicting names during our times doing whatever, and there isn’t much to do about it, or inherently anything evil about it.
 
I’m sure you can relate to that and understand that.  
”Replica” is a name used by other artists, too.  
But that’s fine; I’m sure you really liked the name too! So it makes you happy, and it doesn’t cause anyone to get hurt. I wouldn’t see anything wrong with that, so I would never complain about it. Honestly, I even agree it’s a nice name. ^^

Thing is, people IRL aren’t categorized on image boards online where other people try to specifically look for them, or find pictures of them to use as reference when drawing them.  
So in a technical aspect it does kinda matter.
 
Then there is the whole part about squabbling between people who have oc’s of the same name, since not everyone appreciates their OC’s tag being flooded by pictures of another OC that came after, which creates this unnecessary conflict that could have easily been avoided right by just choosing another name instead.  
There is quite frankly zero reason for anyone in the furry and pony communities to choose the same name combination that another OC has.
 
Not that it matters in this case, since Nips, who owns the first Tender Heart, is kinda indifferent, and this other guy is presumably aware (or will be aware) that there is another Tender Heart under the same tag being used primarily for NSFW situations.
 
Just saying though, kinda weird imo, but not really none my concern.

I don’t think it really matters, considering plenty of people irl have the exact same first, middle, and last names. c:

I wonder why people have this uncanny habit of not checking if their new OC’s name is already in use by another OC before they go through with it.
