TFA is just incredibly lackluster in comparison to any of the other movies and even the prequels, while not as action packed, still had cohesive writing.

wait, did he not eat back then either? how is he still alive?! how long can a changeling live without food? This means love isn’t they’re only food source and hey can live off regular pony food right? Then why was Thorax starving? Couldn’t he just change and get food then? Might not be much but it’s better than starving. Maybe they need magic to stay in a changed form but pony food doesn’t give enough (if any) magic to shiftshape regularly? I shouldn’t have to ask this many questions.

Yup, it was just like a kid reenacting A New Hope, but without any of the charm or character development. Hell, Ray is DONE with her character arc; she learned to use the force and even beat the emo kid sith lord… she’s done. She did in one movie what took Luke no less than three and had none of he charm.

TFA was just JJ jerking off too his childhood nostalgia fantasies pretty much.
 
Totally fails at world building in particular, we basically know nothing about the New Republic…. and then they go and blow it’s capital up and expect us to feel things.
