Description

And from that day on, Spike the Brave and Glorious became known as Spike the Betrayer, or was it Spike the Dim and Foolish? No one really cares anymore in the Crystal Empire, or as it’s now known, the Changeling Kingdom.

One, I have no problem with this particular episode or moral, that was fine, what I have a problem with is where it led. Redemption of a changeling, cool. Redemption of changeling leads to destruction of changeling empire, less cool. I enjoy this image because it gives a glimpse of a world where Chrysalis still remains a legitimate threat. That is why I left a comment of “if only”

Two, Spike was a PERFECT candidate for a changeling with ulterior motives. He’s young, naive, probably feels unnapreciated, and is fairly close to royalty.

I’m not in support of this idea because it’s ‘cool’, I support it because I appreciate the message of false friends.

Spike has never been my favorite, but I prefer screw ups from him to be based on naivete than stupidity. And a twist like this…

Besides, of all the races they’d created and used by season 6, I’m a little annoyed that they chose to completely remove the threat of one of the best villains they had.

Chrysalis no longer poses the same threat she once did, and I feel the fandom will suffer for it.

(Aside) I do not necessarily feel the SHOW will suffer, but I am concerned with the fandom.

Remember when Discord was this mighty demon feared by all. The stories (we wrote) of his power and dastardly deeds spread across the net like wildfire.

But then season 3 comes around, and any intimidation factor he once had is sunk.

Nightmare Moon, ain’t coming back
Discord, see above.
Sombra, dead.
Tirek, out of the picture.
Starlight Glimmer, HAHAHA!

And now Chrissy has had her angency removed. Short of either
A. A one episode comeback for revenge
Or
B. A shudder redemption arc

She is gone.

I was fine with ONE changeling having doubts about evil, good message for the kids and all, but his bringing about an end to the changeling race as we knew it is where I have a problem.

So yeah, forgive me if I dream of darker times.

I get the distinct feeling I’m in the minority for actually enjoying the episode and being happy for Thorax.

@PonyPon
Well, you really ought to expect such accusations considering that, as far as I can tell, Murrison compliments the episodes more often than you do.

Or maybe Thorax can help open Chrysalis to the idea of opening peaceful negotiations with the ponies. Ya’know if the “sharing love with each other” thing doesn’t pan out.

Well, like Thorax, I’m going to hold out hope for the Changeling race. It may be a rough road ahead for him, but I believe Thorax can help bring about change for the better.(Ha! Pun entirely intended.)

I was thinking that, in a culture geared towards stealing love from others, Thorax wouldn’t have had very much in the way of opportunities to try to find changelings who shared his unorthodox tendencies. But yeah, you’re right, I’m being foolishly illogical and as desperately optimistic as Thorax. Never mind.

@Background Pony #FEDE
That logic makes no sense. Two does not equal 1000, and Thorax has been looking for friendship within his hive literally since the day he was born. As far as we know, kevin’s been off the grid for both ponies and chsngelings for a while and been living off friendship for a while with (supposedly) matilda while not being nearly as socially awkward as thorax. We don’t know much about kevin beyond that he obviously is more subtle then poor thorax.

Neither of their cases suggest things would be an practical transition for all the drones within the hive. They are the rare exceptions.

@CronoM
Sorry, it looked to me like you were arguing he was either going to revert to established changeling ways or end up starving. Personally, I think that if two changelings can live outside the hive, there’s a chance others could learn to live like they do.
