@Meanlucario
That’s kinda what my other comment was about. In the show, Rarity has kind of a dreamy “it would be nice if” interest in finding a ideal colt friend, but otherwise is still single.
In the show its because of Applejack and Raritys conflicting personalities that makes it so tempting for them to be paired up in show episodes and comic book issues.
In the show of course Applejack and Rarity are just friends, but of course the fandom take it to a whole other level.
As well as just about every other Pony, Dragon, Griffin, Donkey and even things that aren’t even alive like steam pressure gauges!

My simple response is that if you don’t like something, than fix it. If you think Flash is too bland, than do something with him. This fandom has done that before, so why not now?
@Ping_chan
I dont mean the ship itself being developed, i mean the actual characters.
Canon or large community consensus have produced characters with legitimate personality which can therefore be placed into relationships and still make it believable, octavia and vinyl scratch being two instances of fanon going wild.
Flash sentry on the other hand is essentially just a cardboard cutout of a character who only exists for a single purpose.
You could literally replace him in most of his appearances in fan works with an OC and it would be just as relevant to the piece.
@Jarkes
No i’m not. You can like it all you want, i just think flash sentry is a terrible character and thus makes any ship he’s a part of equally terrible.
Props to the artist for attempting to fix that, but my opinion isnt all that likely to change.
@Ping_chan
When did the canon ever mattered for shipping? If you pay attention, Rarity only shows romantic interest in stallions, and non-romantic respect/interest to both stallions and mares. This is the canon, but Rarity/Jack is still a strong ship in this fandom.
@Background Pony #B788
What makes shipping great with the fandom is the character build up for ships are devolved by the fandom.
However, I can’t help but wonder if this character build up for different ships are actually present in the show?
I am a very strong Rarijack shipper, but I’ll admit that the show it self may not intend Rarity and Applejack to be a lesbian couple.
@Background Pony #B788
Even the ones who people only focus on the characters being a couple and ignore the build up worst than DHX? I’ve seen more build up stuff for Flash/Twilight than Bob Bon/Lyra, and people brag about the second without hesitation while hating the first. That’s part of why I don’t like Bon/Lyra and enjoy Flash/Twi.
but I’ll admit that the show it self may not intend Rarity and Applejack to be a lesbian
“stop liking what I don’t like”
yeah…….. this fandom kinda says that a lot
(Sad violin music)

But I really think he’d throw a fit in this situation, friends or not.
Ah. Well, thing would be much different if Bon Bon was actually Bob Bon.
@Background Pony #B788
You’re… unfamiliar with this artist… aren’t you?
Also, all I’m hearing is “STOP LIKING WHAT I DON’T LIKE!”
You made a typo in your comment and called Bon Bon “Bob Bon”.

There are numerous popular ships involving characters less developed than Flash, so that argument doesn’t work.
What makes shipping great with the fandom is the character build up for ships are devolved by the fandom.

I don’t get the joke.
New headcanon, Bon Bon’s nickname is Bob.
