If I remember right, I think it was Skoon, and his Berry Punch tumblr, who was the reason for Ruby Pinch being used, not to mention, she had a trio of Rubies as her cutie mark, which I guess caught on some time during 2013, though I wouldn’t know as I wasn’t into the fandom at the time.
 
Then again, I have seen people confuse Derpy with Dinky and Ruby with Pina.

What’s confusing about “Berry Pinch”? Relatives have similar names.  
I really wonder about this because back in 2012, before I became a really big fan of the show, I stumbled somewhere over the name “Berry Pinch” for her and remembered that. I don’t know which site this was anymore, but I think it was a fairly prominent one in the fandom, so I knew she’s called “Berry Pinch”.  
Then, when I got into real contact with the fandom in Summer 2013, I suddenly saw “Ruby Pinch” pop up everywhere. o.o  
Still seems to me like the fandom randomly changed her name out of nowhere.

It was mostly because of the Ruby cutie mark that she had, besides, I honestly prefer Ruby Pinch to Berry Pinch, as its less confusing.

Someone who calls her “Berry Pinch”, not “Ruby Pinch”! That’s amazing!  
I never understood how everyone suddenly came up with the latter name, it’s good to see that someone still remembers her actual name.  
Also, Crackle Pop is best little brother and best twin brother (of Chirpy Hooves).

 
I think Crackle Pop is Derpy’s little brother, and uncle to Dinky, who is roughly the same age. Much like how Pina Colada is Berry Punch’s little sister and thus aunt to same-age Berry Pinch, Berry’s daughter.

We never saw them meeting each other, on-screen, but with her being Derpy’s sister, they sure visit each other sometimes.
 
And we haven’t gotten something that lets us suspect that Sweetie Belle lives with Rarity, at least not that she does so permanently.  
We even saw her room in her parents’ house.

Nope, she’s the only one, side from Dipsy, who never met Derpy or Dinky, but a few people have her in Derpy’s family as either her daughter or sister (though I’m more in the former crowd).

I think he still lives in Rainbow Falls, together with his twin-sister Chirpy Hooves (aka Derpy’s little sister, the first, and unfortunately only, time we saw her was in “Trade Ya!”) and their parents, and that he only came to Ponyville to participate in the Applewood Derby.  
He is still a foal, so I can’t see why he would move to live with his big sister in another town.  
Unless his parents have died, but in this case, we would have seen Chirpy there as well.

good point, in that case crackle pop also moved to ponyville to live with his sister, right? this also happens in the real world, living with the older brother/sister when the kid hits a certain age

Moved to Ponyville? We didn’t see Peach Fuzz until “Twilight Time” and Lily Longsocks for the first time in “Crusaders of the Lost Mark”. Even though Ponyville is a small town, sometimes new ponies do move there.
