no, because lion king didn’t go out of it’s way to portray the bad guys as good guys. it actually did a great job of betraying the bad guys as both victimized (they’re starving and exiled) and still quite evil and unsympathetic.

I’m still holding my thoughts on it, but it did have goods and bads. It’s just like the MMDW, only IDW does that kind of episode way too often, it seems. :p

This arc is way, way overhated. I’m glad Linkara’s review was fair and looked at both the good and the less good things about it.

I’d just call The Lion King a good book on how horrible people commit themselves to a horrible death. (hyenas, remember? Simba simply tossed him off the metaphorical/literal throne of the pride lands)

At least Linkara tends to do the story stuff at the start and end of his episodes (if he does do them in an episode). That way, you can just skip them and focus on the review itself.

god, i hope that wasn’t an intentional message. that’s a horrible lesson in diplomacy, because it also teaches the lesson “use violence and aggression to demand what you want, and it will work with no repercussions.”

I like Linkara, but his story stuff is just really bad to me.

This comic was a good example of dealing diplomatically with someone who’s wronged you, rather than seeking retribution. I think that’s lost on a lot of people these days.

I wander if this will be jarring for him(in story) to be doing this after what happened with the ship?

For those who aren’t familiar with Atop the Fourth Wall when they watch the review on Monday (which is hopefully the review comes out, as a move into a new house delayed his most recent review to yesterday): if there’s some weird stuff at the beginning and ending involving Linkara in outer space and the mention of an “Entity”, that is normal.
 
Following in the spirit of comic books, Atop the Fourth Wall tends to have story lines involving Linkara dealing various non-earthly beings, with the last few episodes involving him being concerned about an old enemy of his returning and his spaceship (one that claimed after defeating one of his recurring enemies) receiving a ton of damage and crashing on the Moon. As such, we’ll probably get some reference to that during the review. However, unlike other reviewers (i. e. Nostalgia Critic), Linkara tends to hold off the “story” bits for before and after the review.

I saw it as more of a diplomacy thing. The conflict was over, and the deer did have some land stolen and damaged by an Equestrian company made up of minotaurs and ponies.  
Ponies apologize, Deer apologize AND fix all collateral damage. Seems fair to me.

i don’t know. celestia apologizing to the deer for having to be eco terrorists, destroying her kingdom, and endangering her subjects kind of painted them as the “good guys” of the comic. in fact, if they actually had gone for an “evil vs evil” thing with the ponies caught in the middle just trying to prevent more shit from hitting the fan, it would have been a pretty good comic.
 
all in all, if you’ve ever seen the crossover review of him and the nc reviewing star trek insurrection (which i do recommend as it is quite funny), it has characters very similar to the deer and linkara quite literally spends the entire episode just ripping them apart and goes of on one really long tangent about how much he hates that entire character archetype. i wouldn’t be surprised at all if that review is the reason people wanted him to review the deer comic to begin with.

I don’t think the Deer were better or worse than Well-To-Do. And it’s not like the comic was painting the deer as completely pure innocent blameless victims either. Both sides were clearly in the wrong in different ways, with the ponies caught in the middle to resolve the conflict.

they just had the smug elf condencending attitude, the whole “hey let’s be worse villains than the villains to solve the problem” thing and i’ve ripped that crappy comic to shreds so badly i can’t even pick up the tiny pieces anymore with my bare hands so, t’hell with it. there’s literally nothing more i can say about it =/

given how crappy that comic really was and how poorly it’s message was delivered (if you haven’t read it you seriously have no idea), it wouldn’t surprise me if that was intentional.

Tip of the day:
 
If you’re going to make a “Save The Trees” sign, use materials other than paper attached to a wooden stick.
