I’m pretty positive. She never refers to them as ponied up like the staff usually does when talking about transformations. In another video she says this about them when she was designing them.

are you sure she didn’t only mean the transformed kids who “ponied up”? (because they’re literally hybrids, and equestria is literally otherworldly.)
 
frankly I think the bobble headed twig armed EQG humans are less anthropomorphic than ponies.

It’s amazing how nobody has thought foster-dad or step-dad except you.
 
I mean, she said not her dad. Which means this guy COULD could be her step-dad or something.
 
But then again, that resemblance is so strong I’m gonna have to say Rainbow was raised by her aunt and uncle or something…

I’m just gonna go with foster-dad, step-dad, or uncle. Cause I’m really hoping at least ONE of the Main Six are an only child. I mean, it’d kinda fit her character, as well.

Nope, until proven otherwise in the show, he’s still her dad to me.

She lives with them, but she also spends a lot more time staying with Rarity than is normal for most families who can afford a house by a lake; the implication all along has been that they travel a lot. Still not quite the same as “absentee”, though, even if they did manage to miss the one thing their Youngest has been losing her dadgum mind obsessing over for the last several years.

That is a very good point. Rarity and Sweetie Belle’s parents are absentee parents and Rarity pretty much has to raise Sweetie Belle from what I’ve seen.
 
The show hasn’t shown alcoholic or meth moms as far as I can tell. But it does try to heavily imply the importance of watching out for/taking care of family. That’s a message I got out of it at least.

If you watch the video she makes a small mention to it. I highlighted among other things I found interesting in the video from the article that weren’t mentioned. I guess someone got butt-hurt about it for some bizarre reason.
