NV is still my favorite yo
Is that a joke? XD That’s the ‘edgy’ thing to do right now, go check out the fallout reddit, everyone rips on 3 and 4 constantly while praising NV.
But that’s probably just me being a Black Isle/Obsidion Fallout purist.
I also had a rather bad experience with Fallout 4, and in hindsight, I hate the lack of RPG elements Bethesda had.
Don’t forget the dialogue options.
They just have to mute the character and maybe lock the camera so it doesn’t drift off and go on vacation like it likes to do sometimes.
Could a game handle that much data? I’m unsure if a Bethesda game can hold two games on one disc.
I prefer 4 over New Vegas especially since I can play longer than 20 minutes without it crashing, though 4 is a love hate relationship. Obsidian has a lot of good ideas but they always forget they have a time limit and they suck at coding their games which leaves you with a bugged out mess and wouldn’t be so bad if they patched and updated their releases but they don’t. KOTOR2, Pillars of Eternity, and New Vegas are all games they either barley touched after release or not at all, Obsidian are good game designers, story writers and are extremely innovative.
They just suck at coding.
And at limiting themselves.
And time scheduling
And play testing
@Meanlucario
I wasn’t a huge fan of the voiced protagonist because the way he says some stuff is weird like he’ll emphasize things or use a weird tone of voice or accent that really puts me off and disconnects me from the character, I didn’t feel like I was playing myself or a character I created it felt like I was playing this already established character with a defined personality and voice (which he is) they removed the element of a good roleplay game because you’re always the same person no matter what with a predefined goal, personality, and voice rather than something you can decide like in the old games.
I just wish they had put an option to play it with a voiced character or without it for those who want it and those who don’t.
Sadly, they plan on removing the voiced protagonist in future games. I honestly liked it, since silent-protagonist are overused if you ask me.
i preffer nv to be honest, 3 is fun (especialy with mods) but nv added so much things, and playing nv with mods is just sooooo much better than 4, if only there was a mod that adds voice to the protagonist, oh well you can’t have everything
I hear ya like I said I prefer 3 and NV definitely had problems.
I know that 3 has many, many problems, and NV had great ideas, but 3 was fun to play, and NV didn’t execute all of their ideas very well (why have the karma system when there’s a reputation system?), it gets in the way for me.
Edited
That was something they did to fix 3’s problem of being too open and too easy. I recommend watching this to get a good idea of why 3 was broke and why NV had the decisions it did. He’s a bit of an asshole at the beginning but everything he says is correct as I did see these problems while playing the game myself and you can get some good fallout 1 and 2 history.

For me it was how empty the world felt, and how exploration, my favorite part of Bethesda games, felt punishing instead of rewarding. That and that walking off the predetermined path got you instantly killed.
3 was a special kind of problematic it had so many problems it’s a bit unreal but the atmosphere it had was amazing and really drew me in, NV was structured better had better mechanics had a better story but felt like a western more than a fallout game and because it was produced by obsidian it was riddled with game breaking bugs and crashes, NV is the reason why I am a spastic saver. Kill an enemy save my game, finish some dialogue save my game, walk through a door that automatically saves my game SAVE MY GAME.
What Bethesda game doesn’t have many problems?
Edited
I prefer 3 as well despite it’s MANY problems it has a special appeal to me that NV just didn’t quite pull off even though it was designed better.
@HansomeDadude
Same!
