Her parents are Eastern European and named her because of how much she loved to eat sour cream on her pelmeni. They just got the words wrong.

I remember reading somewhere about a Native American tribe that came up with infants’ names based on whatever their maternal grandmothers first saw after being told that the delivery was successful. Maybe ponies come up with names using a similarly oracular system?
