Coming to college out of state, halfway across the country, I had one friend with me, and I was ecstatic when I got the courage to say “hi” to some stranger, and not enough social sense to know not to say “hi” to some random passing stranger.
 
Now I’ve made a club with 300+ people, lifelong friends as well as one super BFF, and just got back from hosting a decent roleplay campaign. So, yes, the change is drastic.
 
To say nothing of the deep, horrible depression the show may have kicked me out of.

I beg to differ. The Brony community has increased the amount of friends I now have and helped me out if my shell. Before that, I was an introvert worst than Flutters. Now, I am more confident and I have the Brony fandom to thank for that. No other fandom has helped me as much as this one.

Pretty much. That and I find the it teaches “love and tolerance” (assuming that’s what you meant) thing funny because:
 

I’ve been a Trekkie since the early 80’s to this day, so yes, fandoms can definitely outlive their shows.
 
As for spreading values and lessons, yeah, outlook not so good.

“…spread what our pony friends has taught us.” Yeah, calling BS on that. A scattered few fans have had their spirits lifted by the cartoon, and fewer still have learned to be more empathetic, caring, and/or friendly from the characters, but the overwhelming majority of bronies are still the same as they were when they discovered ponies. The brony fandom is more or less the same as any other dedicated internet fandom.

In 100 years we’ll all be dead and nobody will remember anything we ever did. Depressing.

I’ve been a pony fan since the 80s, and I’d expect that I’ll be one still for a long time yet.

Will be interested to see how this fandom looks in a few years. I imagine season 7 is it as the budget for G4 ends in 2018. Next year we might see another spike though, considering the big movie mixed with season 7 and another EQG movie. Although, I see the MLP big screen movie being the driving force. And if there is enough marketing behind it, we could see a lot of people return or join up. Right now we seem to be a simmering hardcore fanbase at the momen.

Thing is if something like that can hang chances are ponies will be around for some time.

Screw that noise burn everything to the ground. The ride only ends with the flame engulf us all! We could also always merge with the furry fandom. Then we will truly be eternal.

Every fandom in a nutshell, buddy. You’re not saying anything new. True fans will stay true long after that which they love is gone. Just take a look at me, I grew up with the original LEGO Bionicle sets, and to this very day, I still love those old things.
