Rarity need to have an established likable friend to ever reach her happy conclusion. So far only Spike would be good enough for her, but without aging him up, she will need to at least meet someone who is her Discord, Cheese Sandwich or Quibble Pants. Fancy Pants is already taken. If it doesn’t happen, then the show might end with just her being a witness at someone elses wedding or ironically having her to be the only one who haven’t gotten married as oppose to her entire character that wanted to marry a prince already in season 1.
However, I don’t think they would convey a message like that at the expense of another main character’s happiness.
They’d have to find a way to make Rarity’s side of the deal seem much less serious/sad.
Maybe just a scene with her comically biting her hoof while silently complaining about even Fluttershy finding her “prince” before her, and then having someone tactfully relaying the message you mentioned.

And if someone is bothered by age difference and interspecies romance. Steven’s father and mother already did that and there were no soccer moms demanding CN to cancel the show. And these were human characters. No one will be bothered by age difference between two horses.
Mike Vogel is a big fanod Steven Universe. And message from SU “Love Letter” episode that says “Romance without Friendship is empty and meanignless” is a very importan frinedship lesson that never happened yet and it could only make a big impact if main characters would do it. Out of all male developed characters we have Discord, SPike and Big Mac. Spike can’t do it, because he is too young. Big Mac can’t do it because Marble is undeveloped. Discord friendship with Fluttershy is a reccuring theme that every viewer is aware of and their popularity is most noticable in the fandom. Just the teleplays about Daughter of Discord fanfics reach Millions of views. There’s is no better couple to portray the message “See kids, Rarity wanted a pretty guy she didn’t know much about and she’s miserable now, but Fluttershy and Discord are close friends and they found happiness together even if he isn’t good looking, famous or a rich Prince” Tadaa. A message for one of the finales.
Yes, a show that will want to give little girls an example about good close friends acting as best choices for marriage instead judt physical attraction like happened wth Blueblood and Trenderhoof. Entire ship is happening just because little girls are shipping them and show staff is pandering to them and not bronies.

They are. what you gotta ask yourself is if the writers would actually take the risk of canonizing a specific ship with an very important character. i don’t think they would.

It has that classic problem that people who do like it or pretend to deliberately piss people against it(or perceived to be so) off, or push it too hard on people that don’t care.
The drama comes from the fact the finale had some minor fuel on it they’re overblowing.
People hate Fluttercord? Why? I mean ok, there’s the Dislestia people but I don’t think that warrants it being the one thing people hated the most in the finale, right?
It’s the least harmfull season finale drama. in S3 we got Alicornication. In S4 we got the ugly Castle. In s5 we got a boring new character instead a promising villain. In s6 we only reformed bunch of no name changelings while Chrysalis is still free and got a ship tease of a couple that everyone ship anyway. FlutterCord is far from FlashLight hate in this fandom.
It surely ain’s dying anytime soon. Especially when theres toys to sell to the fans.
