You might be thinking of the old Sunset Shimmer, who couldn’t get enough of how great she thought she was. By comparison, none of the sirens make so much as a vain remark. It’s possible that, despite all the smirking and hip-swinging, they have cripplingly low self-esteem.
 
Orrr, maybe they’re 2-D one-off bad guys that we’re not supposed to empathize with for even a second, like you seem to be suggesting, the entire rest of the show and the very existence of Sunset Shimmer be damned. I can never tell which way the writers are leaning with that one.

We won’t but I wish we would. In a franchise big on redemptions I’d like to see their redemption far more than some examples we’ve had.

…I really hope there’s some kind of detail on that if we ever see the sirens again, because “make this pathetic little world adore us” sends a subtly different message than just trying to rule the world or whatever, and the implications of such a thing are kind of… sad. :s
