@Darth Sonic @Kane
In every first fanfic they are referred as ‘goddesses’ (or just alicorns but never ‘demigods’)
I think it’s fan’s way of spicing up equestrian lore.
And in movies and cartoons characters were called gods for much less.
And in Equestria already so many long-living creatures, it just begs for this term.
Discord, Chrysalis, Tirec, Windigos, (that princess in ‘love-poison’ episode, that apparently died) etc
@Kane
Immortal rulers who move celestial bodies that Ponies literally swear by. That’s at least demigod there. And most call them demigods these days, not gods.
I read these comments and I still don’t understand why people call Luna and Celestia “gods”. They have never been referred to as gods. Other then raising the moon and sun, we haven’t seen any other powerful abilities and feats that doesn’t require a magical artifact that would consider them “gods”. Even by pony standards they have never been referred to as gods.
I mean it could be just me, because my definition of a “God” is much different. But other then raising the moon and sun I don’t see anything that would consider Celestia and Luna “gods”
@Background Pony #D9B7
Hyperbole. Even princesses are capable of it. If we want to be literal, it’d be more along the lines of “If I screw it up, Celestia would be disappointed and sad.”
@mbeeston
I feel the same about this. Also, the last sentence in this comic…it makes me angry. What, Celestia loves Twilight so much more than her own sister? So, for now, they’re pretending to be loving, reunited sisters, but in case something went wrong it’s obvious that Celestia will banish Luna to the moon (wait, it was “kick my flank to the moon and back” I really get the impression that Silfoe is making Luna say such profane, out of character things that it doesn’t seem like the canon her anymore) without hesitation? I know that for physically hurting Twilight she would deserve a punishment, but this is exaggerating.
@dariyDfreeman
That like asking if this blue ocean cliche will go away. It’s just something that happens frequently in real life, so your statement is a non-starter.
Velvet, I know you want Twilight to remain a nun with arrested development until the heat death of the universe, but shouldn’t you have more common sense than to talk down to a GOD? Or the sister of the equally powerful government leader who quite literally is the reason you have a home to live in?
So shut your mouth, bow before your deity, and let your daughter grow up. Just remember, you can’t bitch at someone in the vacuum of space.
Haven’t they kind of been over this already? I was under the impression this beef was fairly conclusively squashed. >>908970>>972277>>976429
Also, Luna’s response to Velvet’s worry about her hurting Twilight feels a little disingenuous. There’s a pretty big difference between hurt feelings and attempted murder or accidental summoning of a nightmare monster.
Well, I guess both of us only have anecdotes. Doubt we could ever pull off a representative poll of who bothers with demi or not. :P
It’s real rarity for me to see someone motivated enough to write ‘demi’.
Most people in comment sections and forums call the Demi-Goddesses, because they’ve been jobbed too many times to call them goddesses.
Same there
I meant outside of fanfics.
I think the Windigos are more of spirits.

Or a cold war.
Define peaceful.

It never will.
