Isn’t that the truth. I worked for Toys R Us for about 5 years, I hated closing during the holiday hours because some nights we wouldn’t get done with straightening up the store til about 2 am. Worst one was when I had to be back in by seven the next day when that happened. Black Friday customers were actually pretty civil since we would have 2 lines going through the store one for Electronics the other for everything else.
Hoo boy, retail at Christmas is a death wish for sanity and energy.
Last year I got talked into almost a week straight of eight hour shifts, the last of which turned into a ten hour shift. The resulting paycheck was nice, but good god, never again.
Yeah, Retail can do that to you; especially first days in holiday season.
My first job at LEGO was on Black Friday back in 2011, and started an overnight seasonal for Toys R US a few weeks back.
Word of advise: Loose your sanity quickly- it will make the time go by faster.
I worked at a job, once. I went from being almost completely inactive to standing and working close to 8 hours a day. My legs weren’t ready for that so I’d collapse when I got home until it was time to go and work again.
And I’d also have a dream about working, as an ironic punishment.
