That might be the case hence the name “Many Hands.” It looks like they never even watched that episode of the cartoon that issue adapted.
I still think “Many Hands” was a pseudonym for the editor and whoever else he could wrangle around the office to just draw something in order to meet a deadline. (Using a suitably loose definition of “draw”, of course.)
@Itsthinking
I would ask if it might be possible to show a bit of respect and courtesy in these complaints, but given the default tenor of online conversation, I already know the answer.
Best of all according to WIKI, Sally held her handheld computer “Nicole” upsidedown the entire issue. Only good thing about the issue was the cover art by Spaz. (Who’s much more popular then the mysterious “Many Hands.”)
A fan asked current main Sonic writer (sense 2006) Ian Flynn who “Many Hands” was, and he just said it was a “trade secret.”
@LightningBolt
Agreed.

Jay Fosgitt here, it’s not bad art, perhaps it doesn’t fit within the universe like most of the other artists, but it doesn’t have any really horrific designs, its not painful to look at, it doesn’t look amateurish, it just hits a design that some people don’t like. In contrary tho, if he was just a random fanartist, people wouldn’t even care about the overly cartoony style or throw such bitchfits over it.
Also we made forum threads for the comics for this very reason you know. :V
Jesus.
I can think of a few (As a Sonic comic fan myself) worse then Fosgitt’s worst.
Ever heard of “Many Hands?” (Seriously, that’s the artist’s pseudonym.) He looks like he was drawing the comic in MSPaint, or something. You should see that entire issue he did, which was actually a cheap filler adaptation of the Sonic SatA.M. episode “Cry of the Wolf.”
My helmet comment wasn’t in reply to you, it was in reply to Beau Skunky.
And I agree about the pose. Heck even Jay Fosgitt himself agrees with you about the pose, he said that the panel had confusing lines and he blames himself for the colorist’s mistakes.
Even I’m not talking shit about the helmets. I just don’t know if all of the blame is on the colorist there either. Fosgitt certainly didn’t pick an easily understandable pose to work with.
I think the helmets are supposed to be floating, and that the armor is enchanted to remain upright even with no pony inside.
@Itsthinking
That one’s partly the colorist’s fault, some of Celestia’s “limbs” are actually supposed to be part of her hair.
I mainly was speaking of this. None of the examples in the Sonic art had something this bad.
…Seriously? Good God, how much do you hate Fosgitt?
And honestly, the limbs look no worse then the show on this particular page. (Aside from the helmets.)
Honestly I think the Sonic art is slightly better if only because at least in what LB showed us we can tell where all of the limbs are.
I disagree… I think I prefer Fosgitt’s big head take on ponies as opposed to Lim’s take on anorexic Sonic characters.
The “Boom” Sonic isn’t bad though.
Doesn’t matter who buy them more,Hasbro marketing objectives couldnt been as crystal clear as they were presented at that Powerpoint and of course Hasbro take shortcuts Equestria Girls
They are never going to change because as far as they are concerned their primary target audience is aquired.The rest is expendables bonuses for them
Oh dear god what is that.
@FrzGT
No, that Sonic looks much worse.
@Dustcan
Except that pretty much is evidence. The plain suburb community center looks totally out of place in a Greekish place like Cloudsdale, literally none of his fan griffons in the comic even resemble the loads of styles we got in the Griffonstone episode (especially Greta), and Starlight’s been sporting that new mane since S6 premiere and pretty much signifies her heel-face turn.
So yeah it really isn’t hard to believe that he hardly pays attention and just grabs what he can get off GIS.
Honestly, Sonic art is still better.
Ech.
But no one’s saying it’s bad it just doesn’t always make sense and sometimes goes against the source material itself or has distracting theme’s. The art itself looks fine.
Ignore Boom!Sonic…

Wow. I only just now noticed the mane-change. ….I feel so blind now.

@Beau Skunky
If they were just saying they didn’t like it and didn’t provide an explination of why it would be complaining but they gave reasons why and how to solve them so it was a critique. The bipedal stances was a good example and he seems to have eased of that pose.
@Dustcan
Why would he tell people he doesn’t pay attention to the show? That’s basically guarantee’s a “hey you might as well ignore my comics” ad. They gave you evidence look past your biased a little instead of declaring anyone who criticizes something as haters. Just because someone doesn’t come right out and say something doesn’t mean they have or haven’t done said thing, the world would be a much simpler place if it was that easy.

The books sell more to the primary audience if that’s what you’re trying to say is the sole measure of importance. Not that being for kids means shortcuts can be taken…

>tertiary part of the fandom,not the priority on Hasbro list,dead last on their Powerpoint presentation
When will you get it already ?
Quite frankly if Fosgitt were a fandom artist rather than an official one I wouldn’t even know to start critiquing him.
So no actual evidence? No confession or something from an interview or tweet? Just more “this guys art looks weird, therefore he can’t follow it”?
My art might as well be scribbles. Would that mean I don’t watch the show?
