( Mina and I hope all of you enjoyed this little kinky spanking comic with Poor Rarity. It’s just fetish sexiness, so don’t get the impression that we hate Rarity. We luv her, we just like her with a red marshmallow rump….or as Rarity would say “Derriere….Dahling.” )

In truth though it is around bullying when doing consenual spanking at least for me and many others. It is of course with someone you trust and controlled but it is that dominating and humiliation aspect I’m after. Most bullies are people with an innate sense of sadism. That’s just something you’re born with and is not all that rare. Most people though surpress it or are not in a position of power to make use of it. Consensual spankings are a controlled and safe way to indulge in the side of yourself you normally have to fiercely suppress.

[Rubs eyes in three/four years later.] Do I have to go back and read comments to regain context? [Starts to but scrunches up face uncomfortably.] Okay, let me see if I can do this without full context.

Spanking isn’t always just “excuse to spank” in fact “excuse” isn’t a good word. It implies that there isn’t a reason, or that one was made up. A lot of times there’s a consensual nature behind the spankings, meant for the enjoyment of both parties involved, and the discipline/bullying aspect is just foreplay. This is my personal preference. Sometimes it IS bullies making up excuses, and a lot of times it’s just a piece of art for the sake of it. Sore Loser became a series of increasing levels of non-con which made me increasingly uncomfortable, and made it increasingly hard to deal with the large amount of negativity it drew in, especially from non spankos who didn’t have a first hand understanding of spanking as a fetish overall. Not the best first exposure to it for these chaps if it was, by the by. EastStern and everything around her is significantly worse. I despise EastStern as a character, and just last week went on a rather sizable rant to Mina on everything wrong with the character when she assumed I had a crush on her, so :SPOILER: her inclusion and actions in part 3 of this story only further added to my distaste for that character. :END SPOILER:

Back at the time this was posted it received a lot of angry comments that weren’t constructive criticism, just white knights calling for Circe’s head on a pike for harming their beloved Rarity. As the poster and a close friend of Circe, I couldn’t help but feel like some of it was directed at me at the time, and I probably took it a bit too personally. I believe I worked at avoiding such conflicts a bit better in the second and third parts. But you need to understand that before this, and even since, I’ve dealt with a particular kind of confrontational internet goblin that I experience enough for it to become a trope for me at this point, and as such it was easy to lump someone into that category when I saw “the signs.”

I appreciate you trying to help me understand (or however one wishes to phrase it, I don’t want to inadvertently offend you, you seem like a nice enough person), but this matter was three/four years ago and I’d like to think that I’ve grown and matured a bit since then. Though it is hard to be forgiving of someone who is being rude and unreasonable when there’s enough people on the internet for one to interact with in a positive capacity, and a single button can keep one from having to deal with such negativity from that single person ever again (in theory). There’s a lot more to everything I’ve said than just that, but this is getting three paragraphs long and I just woke up. If you want to discuss this in any further capacity, please message me directly. I don’t think said conversation would need to be public any further beyond this point. (Please)

I think Background Pony #0E20 (aka Background Pony #53C3) had a point: emotionally valid, if inexpertly argued.

People like spanking, so they draw spanking; later, they make up a reason—or just an excuse. That’s fine, but I don’t normally like spanking porn. (IRL is different, but I don’t use it to inflict suffering, just an “enhancement of sensation”—and I don’t mind taking turns.)

I think Sore Loser 1 has about as much justification for the spanking as 90% of of spanking comics, which is “almost or less than none.” Rarity doesn’t deserve what she gets, which is probably why Circe wrote, “This isn’t Rarity hate, this is just spanking Rarity.”

I’m not surprised @BP is put off by it. I had not read EastStern, but I looked through it now, and I agree: it is a rather grim and joyless comic. Some pony comes in and decides to re-make Equestria according to her lights. Even the author agrees it is too much:

All that said, a lot of the other comics by Circe are quite good. Starchart (spanking within a long-term relationship) was rather amazing, and The Long Hoof of the Law is awesome fun, because it leans into its comedy/sadism. In a comedy, putting a bunch of reprehensible characters (like graffitists and bullying cops) through the wringer almost always works: we don’t take it seriously, so we can sit back and enjoy the pure mayhem.

As it is, I can joy Sore Loser for the pure quality of the drawings, the expressions, the unbearable bodily plumpness of the girls. And the plot is prima facie serviceable, so I won’t complain. But you should be more forgiving.

So wait, are we getting a sequel to this? Since Blue mentioned that she would see her two more times?

I actually find people like them quite hilarious. It’s always the same, they’re so predictable. They give lengthy comments about everything wrong with something being negative nancies, and discrediting everything anyone says to them. I ignored it for a while, but they kept “matter of fact-ing” people on why they were right and others were wrong. So when someone finally comes along and discredits them with a sizable post, no cursing, no caps lock, just respectfully calling them out on their behavior with a post that ends up looking admittedly large when they’re done, do they be quiet? Of course not, they think it’s a challenge.

They have to create a bigger post, a longer post, discrediting even harder than before! And they try to maintain the same level of civility so they can continue to look smarter and better while they do it. Going after every little detail, being literal about certain things, deciding the kind of person you or others are, I don’t know and I don’t really care. The point is they never learn. I once went on for ten posts each just like that because I had to make the person understand what they were doing was wrong. Hilarious and yet sad, right?

But here’s the thing. I have a life, I have a job (with mandatory overtime lately), I have loved ones to spend time with, and I have things to do with my free time that don’t involve having a flame war with some random anonymous hater. So the minute I saw that counter post I just rolled my eyes and ignored them. If they think that means “they win”, if they think that means “they have nothing to say back because I’m right”, then you know what? Let him. If starting and ending flame wars on fetish comics is the only way they can feel satisfied with their day to day, I’m happy if they’re happy. Not like it effects me in any way, you know? ^^

From what I’ve seen of other comics, if it’s a series, people use a tag like “Comic: Sore Loser” or something along those lines. The comic at the font lets people know that it is a series, and the Sore Loser part is the name of the comic series. :)

Meh, wouldn’t be the first time someone’s antagonized me about that. Most likely won’t be the last. :P Gotten over it, quite frankly.

I kind of wanted to make a joke yesterday based on Anon’s unhealthy obsession with this comic, but I had decided against it because there didn’t seem to be a point in stating the obvious. <w<

That’s what you were referring to? The comic itself ended. This IS the actual end. There’s no more after this unless Circe decides to continue on with it. The statement about more punishments was made to leave the door open for a sequel, not to indicate that there is undoubtedly more coming. This comic, ends here. I’m genuinely, genuinely surprised you think that this is a reason that I’m absolutely wrong in my statement to have read the comic based on that. Then again, I’m assuming you’ve probably ONLY seen the comic here on derpibooru, not on the original source site? If so, that DOES explain your thought process.

TL;DR: There’s no guarantee a sequel is coming. This comic ends here for now. And given all the negative backlash she received on this comic both here and on the original site, it’s unknown if Circe will actually continue it. It’s just leaving the door open for that possibility.

One of Blue Nile’s lines in a previous page says this is one of three “punishments”. There are times when it’s actually difficult to know whether you’re sincere when you claim you have actually read this comic…

Excuse me? What do you mean this isn’t the ending? As Circe herself pointed out, this would be the last of this comic. I’ll admit wholeheartedly that if they continue and make things a come out with a better outcome, I’ll probably retract most(not all, but most) of my statements depending on how it’s handled. But what do you mean by this not being the ending?
Background Pony #0E20
@dragonglare
One, I’m not an SJW. Two, I don’t hate EVERYTHING from Mina and Circe. Some of Circe’s pictures are my favorite spanking pictures I’ve ever seen. And it’s fine to enjoy spankings, as I do as well, however when it’s something to this level that absolutely feels completely disproportionate in comparison to what’s actually being done, then I have a problem, yes. I’ll concede to the point of putting realism into it, I will admit, that’s silly. Didn’t realize it before, but yeah. It’s pretty damn silly.

However, the thing is, they seem to outright ignore any type of constructive criticism as is. On the site that this picture was originally posted on, I saw numerous people point out and give constructive criticism towards the pieces in the comic. They shrug them off without a single consideration for their stance. I’ve seen them respond far more frequently to people who are actually negative towards the pieces, as they most likely feel the need to defend their craft, as most would.

What happened didn’t come off as most fetish content does in terms of how cruel it ends up being. The reason was presented as, “this is why this is happening, the character being top here is in the right on her stance”. That’s also the response to any comments, again, generally agreeing and saying that she deserves this because what the character is saying is true. While Rarity tried to bring up it’s a misunderstanding, it came off as more that she tried to say something to get herself out of her situation, like a child lying about something to get out of a punishment. While that fits somewhat, it definitely doesn’t come off as her just accepting it in this comic. It doesn’t feel like she’s taking it because she feels bad, it feels like she’s completely against it and helpless to do anything.

As for why I read this comic and East Stern, do you think I had any idea on how they’d turn out from the beginning? Many people here enjoyed the comic right up until it was perfectly clear that they were, indeed, ending on this. The fact that nothing happens to Blue Nile at all, Rarity just got beat like a rug for a misunderstanding, and that she’s now got to live with that? No, I didn’t expect that. I anticipated it ending up with something happening to give this an ending that feels right for the situation and not one that just comes off with a character still being punished for a misunderstanding. I wasn’t aware that’s how it was going to end, I was more into it towards the start and middle, but closer to the end when it became clear in this comic that everything was going to just go fully in Blue Nile’s favor, that’s when I began to have issues with it. With East Stern, I stopped reading after it was fully clear that the character was a Karma Houdini who could do absolutely what she wanted, when she wanted, to anyone she wanted to do it to, and get away with it without a problem. I didn’t know that at the start, same with many of the people here that are commenting that the ending was abysmal.

I’m not saying they don’t have any right to draw these long, drawn out comics. I’m not saying they should be penalized for it or anything. I’m saying that it would be better for them to do such, to me, because the storytelling they actually try to do usually comes off as terrible to people that actually do care for the reasoning behind the pictures. I’m one of such people, yes. I’m all for fetish pictures, but if there does happen to be storytelling accompanying it? I’d like it to be good storytelling. Not reasons that are forced and openly untrue presented as being a good reason for someone getting tanned as bad as this.

There’s been a couple other social justice warriors and defenders of Rarity in these comments, and it’s honestly just harmless over reactions. But you sound like your actually going out of your way to hate anything from Mina and Circe. (Anonymously I might add.) Who cares about getting characters exactly right? I think they toppled that jenga tower when they made them humanoid instead of ponies. It’s not meant to be cannon or accurate, its meant to be for laughs and/or fapping. And it’s funny you call them brutal punishments considering I’ve never seen any blood drawn from their spanking works. Sorry, but we spankos tend to enjoy a little more than a smack on the wrists.

Your trying to put realism in play in a fan made fetish comic based on a cartoon show about magical talking ponies. Why do those of us with common sense have to keep using lines like that? And your honesty is a negative opinion that’s not even trying to be constructive criticism. Your just being hostile, and taking your opinion to a rather high level of deciding what’s going through the creator’s head. They’re not trying to “justify their reasoning” they’re “giving a reason for doing it” knowing fully well that it’s wrong. Do you like their methods? No. Did you want them to point out what really happened? Yes, and they didn’t. And that’s fine! It’s not how you would have done it, but that doesn’t make it wrong or bad.

The reason is not portrayed as 100% factual. Rarity does try to bring up that it’s a misunderstanding, she just doesn’t try very hard. She’s in a vulnerable position and at the same time feels bad for another ponies misfortune. This causes her to take the blame, even if she doesn’t deserve it, which I’ve seen plenty of people do even in real life, as annoying as it can be! And in every single one of your paragraph long posts you have hated on this comic, and Mina’s personal comic series that she honestly just does to entertain some of her friends. I’m sorry it’s not the same quality of “Lord of the Rings”, but it’s not supposed to be. And my biggest question, if you hate the East Stern comic, if you hate this comic, why did you take the time to read them? And why are you going so out of your way to voice how much you don’t like them?

Sure, maybe it would have saved a lot of time and effort if they just did one picture for this and a short explanation. But if they want to make a long drawn out series to cock tease their girlfriend? More power to them. Not my place to say what they can and can’t do with their spare time, and neither is it yours.
Background Pony #0E20
@thps48
Yet in the comic, the reason was portrayed as being 100% factual. It wasn’t treated as a misunderstanding, since even Rarity seems to know what she means and think she did do something wrong to warrant such hatred and just wasn’t willing to accept the comeuppance for it. When, again, the reason was BS. Also, still doesn’t debunk most of the other stuff I said, since it’s still abysmal story telling on both fronts of both this AND the other comic.
