The blue bottle means it’s propane and wouldn’t be hot enough to weld without solder. Also mask are usually used with electric welders. Now that’s aside, I love this image.

Not fully necessary. What you need is to mix the metals of the two parts. Most often through an intermediate (metal from electrode/wire or solder), but can be done directly.
 
It’s still not welding OR cutting, that puny tool she’s using has nowhere near enough fuel to work on the entire pipe. And even with small ones is only usable for cutting.

Yes you’re right. She probably wouldn’t need a grade 10-12 glass like we usually find on these kind of masks. Maybe a 6-8 would do the job, and she could see better through it. But those are usually goggles.
 
Welding with torches is less blinding than welding using a mig/tig/rod.. Any other electrical welder. I did it often with regular sunglasses from time to time, because the other glasses were too dark.
 
She won’t burn her eyes, far from that. The worse she’ll get is seeing nothing through the glass.
 
Unless it’s an electronic glass.
