Description

“You ready to go today, Miss Sparkle?”
It has been nearly 3 months since the suicide attempt. Early Spring gave way to a warm Summer.
And every since Twilight’s attempt on her own life, she was there. Always giving her that shoulder
to lean on and cry when she needed her most. The one to sneak in some treats and some books for
her to pass her time while she was hospitalized and through intensive cognitive behavioral therapy.
She was there from the beginning.
Sunset Shimmer.
“Yes, I’m ready to get going now..”
The nurse helped the much stronger Twilight out of her bed, though Twilight was still slightly
atrophied, but was able to walk on her own. The nurse disconnected the equipment she was hooked
up to, Twilight rubbing her scarred, pale skin. “Do you need some assistance in changing?” The
nurse asked. The nurse was always helpful for her, there when she came to the ER. Never got her
name, unfortunately. Regardless, Twilight nodded no and proceeded to change out of her hospital
gown and into some fresh, clean clothes. The panties alone were a welcome sensation, having the
hospital provided garments were mildly uncomfortable. She finally was able to get her bra from
the day she was admitted, and began to appreciate the little things she has taken for granted.
She heard a familiar voice behind the closed curtains. It was her.
“Hey Twilight! How are you feeling today? You ready to go home?”
Twilight stopped for a moment to look down at her relatively revealing stature, blushing. “Yes, Ma’am…
I can’t wait to just go outside, for once.” Twilight slid on her skirt and threw on her green sweater,
socks and shoes. She quietly sat on her hospital bed, placing her hand on it. It was warm from her
resting there all day. Twilight whimpered a little before getting back up to take a final look at
the room she was in. Usually it’s surrounded with loud equipment but now, silence.
“You ready to go?” Sunset inquired.
“Yeah, just let me get my things and we’ll skedaddle.”
Twilight gathered her books and other items, and pushed the curtains aside. Sunset was as
beautiful as ever to her, Twilight sort of awestruck for the moment. The nurse came in with
a wheelchair. Twilight looked at her, confused. “It’s our policy here. Weird, I know. But
we must wheel you to the street.” Sunset spoke up, “I’ll do it. I’ll take her to the car.”
Twilight felt a welcome breeze against her face. A passing shower left everything sparkling.
The scent of petrichor. It filled Twilight’s lungs and head. It was everything she wanted.
“I don’t get why I have to be wheeled to the car when my legs work again. Seems sort of redundant.”
Sunset giggled. “I know, but it’s best to follow their rules to the wire… You okay?”
Twilight sighed. “I’ve spent what seems an eternity in that hospital, thinking
I was doomed to stay there forever. I j-just..” Twilight shed a few tears,
her voice breaking. “I really appreciate you being there, Sunset.”
Sunset blushed, her pale yellow cheeks lighting up red. “I have an idea. I’ll ask your parents
if it’s okay if I spend the night with you tonight. Looks like you could use the company.”
The girls made it to Twilight’s parent’s car, with Twilight Velvet at the wheel, waiting for her daughter and friend
to get in. The nurse returned the wheelchair, and the car exited the parking lot of St. Luna’s General Hospital.
