Am I seriously the only one up in here who’s considered that Rainbow Stepladder could just as easily have been Dash’s brother in the Cloudsdale flashback?
 
How canon is the name Rainbow Blaze, though? I thought that was just one of those fanon names everyone took for granted, like “Bon Bon” or “Fluttershy”.

It’s not setting a good example for the kids at home. Think about it, when we were young, we are always told to never talk to strangers. Yet, this show seems to throw that important rule out the window.

The ponies have never been shown to have much of a pedophilia epidemic going on. Foals and adult ponies interact constantly without the need for hovering parental supervision. Spike, who’s a baby dragon, has hopped on a number of ponies besides Twilight. Even besides Twilight, the rest of the Mane Six, and the Mane Seventh. Filly Twilight was wandering around the Summer Sun Celebration without her parents in sight. The only adult we ever saw at flight camp was Starlight Glimmer, and apparently the foals had no trouble bullying Fluttershy mercilessly, so adult supervision couldn’t have been the norm there. The CMCs are rarely seen with any adult supervision at all. Even in school, Cheerilee rarely watches any of the foals outside of lesson time. Foals run the town newspaper with no oversight for issue after issue.
 
Simply put, there’s absolutely no reason Filly Rainbow Dash wouldn’t hop on top of any adult she knew, or even one who she simply thought looked friendly. Nor would anypony think bad thoughts about any mare or stallion whatsoever giving her a boost so she could see better.

Nah. It’s pretty much confirmed without a doubt that’s not her dad. Both the lead designer and co-director confirmed it a while ago and now it’s been confirmed by the show proper.

Maybe Rainbow Blaze is Rainbow’s biological father, and Bow Hot Hoof is her stepdad? While that would disappoint a lot of fans, I for one would be delighted to see step-parents get more representation in fiction, specially beyond the traditional villain role. They are very much a daily reality for a huge chunk of the show’s intended audience, after all.

I guess that is possible. Originally Rainbow Dash herself was going to be Firefly but there was a problem with the rights.

It’s also entirely possible that Hasbro still cannot use G1 names due to loss of the trademarks. IIRC, Hasbro could only use the names “Applejack” and “Spike”. It might be neat to see a pony designed to look very similar to Firefly, though!

The Writers can’t do research on fan theories it’s not allowed. Even if they could for whatever reason I honestly don’t know why you think that they owe it to the fandom to use stuff we come up with. Especially when there are a million different headcanons and things floating around.
