Bruh, you know exactly what you did.
With Braeburn being warned by little strong-heart natives are a culture not a costume when the headdress is usually reserved for the chief and other top positions.
No kidding…
Well, this was certainly a comment worth bumping a four year old image a year after the last activity.
He is Dutch. He flew in from The Actual Netherlands.
Racism or species-ism, not everyone would agree whether any of this is offensive, or about any other issue either. Humans…
Cassocks have a specific meaning but if someone wants to dress as a priest on Halloween, who cares? If you tried to officiate at a Church mass you’d be in shit, but if I wore a headdress and tried to impersonate a tribal elder, no one would care about the headdress, they’d focus on the legal fraud and theft.
What Euro-American clothes are simultaneously “offensive, dehumanizing stereotypes” and “important in our culture”?
sorry, but all this started because they are taking Halloween serious.
Also, read the full after-message post:
Headdress has a specific meaning for us, and it’s not for you. I mean, if you wanted to marry into the tribe or whatever, we could maybe work something out, but even then to be allowed to wear that you’d have to kill, like, a dozen guys, and one of them would have to be my dad, so cut it out, okay?”
In other words, if I came in to your house, kneeled in front of your girlfriend/wife while offering a gold ring in a box as a birthday gift, you’d be mad too for misinterpreting culture.
Stuff means stuff. Just because it is in another culture does not mean it is any more or less stupid than our own traditions or rituals.
I hate how the internet turned a clumsy-but-meaningful take against racist stereotyping and turned it into an unfunny joke.
Tell that to trekkies, bronies, whovians, Americans-who-cosplay-Brits etc. etc.
Stupid campaign is stupid.
It started as a campaign against racist Halloween costumes, but then people made parodies of it.
