ItaSt. is Enix… I say this ‘cause Square-Enix is very much still separate by Square and Enix legacies with little middleground if it even exists– I sort of never looked hard enough for a Sakaguchi/Enix guy collab… Forgot the point, lol. Well, since Disney has nothing else featuring KH content, I’ve presumed the majority of the KH share belongs to Square-Enix– Square mostly, it’d be cool to see KH run by Enix’s former staff, but… Yeah, don’t know. :)

@platpusmac well the actual Kingdom Hearts characters don’t really count as Square characters since none of them have even shown up in the Itadaki Street series let alone anything like Dissiida, meanwhile you got the guys from Drasgon Quest crossing over with Final Fantasy characters in that series.

To be honest, I’d like to see Sora and the crew waltz about in the FF7 world - although the world most suitable for them would be the one of FF9. Sadly, despite the overabundance of Square characters, only Disney Dimensions show up. Oh well.

@thps48 funny thing about the “Square Aspect”, if you take out all the Final Fantasy cameos you’d lose nothing in the main narative. Oh maybe you’d have to make new characters to replace Leon and a few others, what with Leon actually contributing something substantial to the narrative as a whole and the rest barely have any real importance to the precedings.

@platypusmac true that. I was mostly refering to how KH has this annoying habit of making the beings of darkness handicapped, it seems that if your heart is purely within light then you’re (theoretically) untouchable, at least in regards to the use of darkness against light as I’m sure actual combat is a different story.

In fact more often than not with the Lightsabers and proficient manipulation of the force in their own bodies, most Sith (and Jedi) don’t have to even bother with Sith Lightning or telekenetic projectiles or any magical attacks to kill a person.

I’m too into Kingdom Hearts, but never thought this… Maybe I focus on the Square part too much. X3

Of course, in a confrontation like the one above the problem for the Sith is that just as Midichlorians don’t play favorites neither does magic - and the Disney mob has magic up the wazoo.

Funny enough. I never thought of Kingdom Hearts when I heard the news, but that is an interesting view point when you are a fan of the series. First thing that popped in my head, aside from Episode 7, was the idea that you might see spinoffs involving the Ewoks.

@sixtyfour actually most Star Wars fans choose not to buy that whole midichlorian babble believing it sort of kills the mystique of the Force if you explain it away as “bacteria”, so they just say it’s a source of energy that has no real form other than life itself.

well… um… BLEH, fine, you win.

But I guess it’s all about the realism of the series in question. KH has talking animals and other cartoon stuff, so it can get away with stuff like that. While star wars is actually trying to look real since it’s a science fiction story, which is why the force is explained as microscopic bacteria in the new trilogy.

@sixtyfour hense light and darkness are literal in KH, regardless of his character Riku is just tapping into one form of energy out of the two that exist in the KH universe. In Star Wars there’s only really one source of energy with “light” and “darkness” being more about emotions and state of mind.

Eh, about it being the default for all keyblades. There have been other keyblade weilders introduced that start out with other keyblades, like ventus, aqua and terra. And Mickey started out with the star seeker as well.

And the keyblades were made by people in order to obtain kingdom hearts and were made in the image of the x-blade. So they don’t have any righteous predication since the ones who made them in the first place were most likely channeling the power of darkness and whatnot. In fact, their use for the betterment of others came about much later.

@ze Kingdom Hearts’ mechanics are more blatant in terms of “light” and “darkness” with there literally being two clashing sources of power to choose from, wherease Star Wars sort of focuses more on the medaphorical/physcological applications of light and darkness regarding how the force is used by individuals.

@Sixtyfour well for all we know the only reason Riku took Sora’s Keyblade is because Sora’s Keyblade is in a larval state, we’ve only really seen the Kingdom Key switch sides like that since from a design standpoint the Kingdom Key is the default form of Keyblades.

Eh, artificial life isn’t so prevalent in KH. But there is the stuff in the Tron world and some heartless and unversed look mechanical.

And the enemies like the heartless can only be defeated by the keyblade, at least in the manga.

Well, Terry, I have to say: I’ve never played KH. I don’t know who that guy at the top is, but I guess he’s the big bad.

And, thinking about Disney the first thing to come to me is Dumbo and his pink elephants.

That said, I don’t count myself as part of the Disney fanbase. I liked most of their movies a long time ago, and I still enjoy some of them, but it’s not the same. Star Wars in Disney’s claws… I will wait to see what they do with it, before forming myself an opinion.

Also, sixtyfour64, the Sith usually have deformities because of the dark side of the force. It’s powerful, but that power comes at a cost. Using the force lightning, for example, can be detrimental to the caster’s health, I think.

Even there, look at Count Dooku. He didn’t get any deformity or anything, that we know of.

Not to mention, the force is a power that doesn’t just affect living beings; it can be used against inanimate objects. However, I’m not up to speed with KH’s canon or mechanics…

@Sixtyfour I don’t know about that. In Palpatine’s case it’s because he got tazered in the freakin’ face by his own sith lightning reflected back at him, in Vader’s case he was left near searing lava. I don’t know about the rest…
