Seriously, yes. If this isn’t the first time that Celestia has shown any affection towards Spike, then it’s one of extremely few times.
Honestly, that’s why I’ve prefered to discard the notion that Spike was raised by Celestia, Word of Faust or not. To me it makes Celestia come off as a cold monster, seeing as how she barely acknowledges his existence, all the while fawning over Twi, right in front of him.
@Joshua
After helping to save the Crystal Empire in the Season 6 premiere, then getting little screen time and dialogue in the Season 6 finale so it could focus on Starlight and some of the other reformed villains saving the kingdom from a villain who had not reformed at all yet since her last appearance, Celestia better get more love this season, especially considering her major role in “Celestial Advice” as Twilight looks to her for guidance regarding Starlight.
Heck, I hope all the Princesses get more love this season along with Shining Armor, especially if there’s a long-term plot regarding if Chrysalis and her actions in “To Where and Back Again” have left any emotional scars on the Mane Six and Royal Family that will take time to surface as they return to normal lives, but know she’s still out there waiting to get her revenge on all of them.
I’m going to go right ahead and predict the first episode of the season will center around this trio having a long discussion on what it means to be a teacher. Sort of an extension of what Spike and Celestia spoke about in Friends Forever #3, but with Twilight as well, and about what to do with Starlight Glimmer of course.

Edited because: typed 'affecting' when I meant to type 'affection'.
You may think I’m taking the piss out of Spike fans, but as one, I’m sayin’ we need some positivity dangit!
