And here’s what Celestia’s punishment was for back when she led her little sister on an unauthorized adventure. Helping her dad around his forge.

As for how he got that eyepatch, I do think he had used to have something to do with the army, likely an apprentice for their blacksmith. But I’m leaning towards it being a work accident.

I think a Norse name would be the most fitting for him, but can’t think of any anyway.

How about Eitri or Brokkr (Had to look up the english names for them) the dwarves who forged most of the famous weapons used by the Asir.
Or you could go by Ivaldi their last name.

Or you can go with Gefest (Greece god of the same thing)

(For some reason Gefest appears as Hephaestus in the translator… weird)

I’d actually support that, even though it’s not Norse.
Mostly because you mentioned forest-fires, mind; I’ve generally considered Odin’s blood-brother, Loki, as essentially being a personification of a wild forest fire (I’ve several arguments for it, but am too sleepy to get into it, and it’s not that relevant - but for starters, his mother’s name might be referring to an evergreen’s needles, and her abusive husband definitively has a name referring to lightning, so Loki’s born from lightning hitting an evergreen)
So I’d be fine with giving the Odin-lookalike a name referring to fire; If Odin’s an ancestor of his, then he shares kinship with forest-fires themselves :P

Vulcan might be something. The roman god of fire and forging. He was associated with the destructive, yet fertilizing effect of fire, and was a symbol of virility for the latter effect. A nice counterpoint to the tree and earth motif of Arbora. And any dendrologist will tell you that forest fires are essential parts of how a forest works and sustains itself.

The equestrians of today do not know the sacrifices that were made in those days. Were it not for the efforts of the valiant warriors of Faust, Equestria would be dominated by the forces of cringe.

Stopped caring
He got his eyepatch in the great OC wars. He may have lost an eye, but many red and black abominations fell that day.
