Description

…None of them knew what happened for them to be here. They had no idea of who the other was. They were just here, nopony was around. The little filly and lanky colt just stood around for a while wondering of what to do, and what the other was thinking about. Before long, the wirey earth pony perked up and trotted over to the filly.

He had a warm smile on his face, but sweet Celestia he was tall. At least in the young filly’s eyes. Soon he looked down to her, and seeing this colt had made the little pegasus wonder feel so much smaller than what she was already.

”¡Hola! ¿Cuál es tu nombre?…”, the colt spoke with charisma and confidence in his voice. The filly looked at him eye-to-eye before squeaking out a little noise.

“Um…”

Inside she knew already he wasn’t a threat, but yet she felt intimidated by him. Not by his size, or his unusually high-pitched voice… rather it was the fact he was speaking something she had no clue as to what he was saying? Probably something nice, but he was so fast as well, even if she did know she wouldn’t be able to catch up. All these thoughts barely had enough time to settle before he started speaking up again. He eagerly leaned in and began to introduce himself.

“Mi nombre es Caballeron, ¡Es muy agradable conocerte amiga!”

He hopped right back up and held out a hoof. What did he want? A hoofshake? A hoof bump? The filly had no idea of what he said or wanted. If anything she was usually the one like this when she met new ponies, but even the. she had been much more.. Paced. And she was sure that she knew what language they spoke in as well. Confused and worried, she mumbled something to him. It was oh-so very quiet and faint that he almost didn’t notice. He tilted his head in confusion.

”¿Qué?”, he peeped. She surely knew by his confused tone it was probably “What?”. Did he even know what she said, or even understand her? She spoke up again and a little bit louder told to the lanky colt-

“I don’t know what you’re saying…”

He paused for a moment, seeing her put her eyes to the floor he can see she was unsure and had a lot going through her mind. And hearing the way she spoke so little finally had him realize what was going on…

“Oh my- I am so sorry!”

The young pegasus’ eyes widened. He spoke in the language she knew perfectly. With the way he had talked to her before she was surprised in his well he knew.

”…Wait on a second. You know how to-”

“Speak your language? Of course! I would have used it earlier, but most of my own friends around me don’t. So it just.. How do I put it?”

“Slipped out?”

“Yes!”

This colt was just full of energy— and now knowing he does speak her language, she felt a bit more confident speaking to him without worrying if what be was saying… though one thing was in her mind was of whateve rhe said first. Before she could ask, the talkative colt reintroduced himself again.

“Hey there! My name is Caballeron!”

He smiled gently and lowered him himself to the filly’s level.

“What’s your name, filly?”

She looked at him again and smiled.

“Heh, the name’s Daring Do!

“Daring Do? That’s a wonderful name for a filly like you!”

Daring laughed a bit from this. Such a colt acting like a stallion, it was an odd experience, but a good one at least.

“Thank You… Um..”

She thought long and hard about it…

“Ca-bah-lair-on?… Right?”

Caballeron nodded and laughed. Soon after he asked her what she was doing here, and she replied wit a simple “I don’t know” and why he was here as well. He didn’t know either. Regardless, they didn’t really care that much at the moment. They both made a new friend, and weren’t alone. So it made the otherwise odd experience a little more bearable with both of them knowing that they would both be at each others’ sides along the way.

Ahhhh, sorry for the somewhat crappy story. It was supposed to be like 4 lines if dialogue then this happened. Also if the Spanish is wrong, I had to use Google translate. I remember a very little bit of it, but I wasn’t even sure if it was right.

As for the drawing. I am kind of pleased with it. Not entirely, but kind of. I messed up Daring’s eye and Caballeron’s legs all look horrible. And not to mention that it looks crooked due to Caballeron being higher up for some reason. And looking at the head, the muzzle looks kinda of off. But that’s just me.

As for what us going on, feel free to ask me because it’s getting too damn late for this (it’s currently 2:40 AM as I write this). Bit the basic jist is that the younger Daring and Caballeron meet for the first time. Either via a spell gone wrong or, my favorite one out of the two, somehow ponie’s younger selves are showing up with their current selves. And these two have no idea who they grow up to be and what really happens between older Daring and Doctor Caballeron.

So yeah. Night y’all. DED.

One last thing, do not tag this as “Daballeron” or any sort of shipping. This is not a shipping themed image. I love it and shipnit myself, but it ain’t the case here.

That’s what seems to be the case with most people. I guess Spanish just isn’t a language that sticks easily? Idk, I learned how to read it from Spanish comics, writing kinda came with it. And speaking from my parents.

Oh yea, I do enjoy nice little stories to go along with art pieces, gives me a better look at what the artist was imagining :)

Ahh thank you! I’ve always lived with Spanish speaking family (though, only occasionally) and where I live a lot of people speak mostly spanish. Unfortunately I barely remember any of it. ;-;

And thank you for that as well! The story just kinda happened. it was 2 in the morning and a school night. So it just came out of most imaginative time.

“Cuál es tu nombre?” is technically correct, as it does get across “what is your name” but translated directly it’s more “which is your name?”
Considering Caballeron explores aztecan type ruins I’m guessing he’d speak with a Mexican dialect. While I’m not 100%, I think it would be “Cómo te llamas?” (“What are you called?” or “Que es tu nombre.” (“What is your name”) which is a bit more clunky.

However, if you’re making Caballeron to be a more “mature” type of youngin, he would probably use the “su” and “usted” which is the formal way to talk to somebody, rather than the informal.

“Cómo te llamas” is more relaxed and less formal; can be changed to “Cómo se llama?”. If you change the second phrase I wrote to: “Que es su nombre?” It would be a bit more formal, if a bit awkward. The latter isn’t used too much as a greeting though. That would be more like, an interviewer asking a potential employee their name.

So I would either go with: “¿Cómo te llamas?” Or “¿Cómo se llama?”

Sorry for gettig long, but I hope that helped ^^

(Btw I think this is super cute! Both the story and the drawing.)
