I don’t think he was evil to begin with.

Surprisingly, this doesn’t bother me that much that the other reformations we had in the show or the comics. Shadow Lock wasn’t cruel or evil like Starlight or Sombra. Just misguided and paranoid.
 
Whatever he read in that book about his ancestors really scared him. Considering that we had already had a bunch of characters, both in the comic and show/movies, getting corrupted his believe that some dark force tried to turn him into a monster isn’t entirely unjustified. The fact the he also suffers from memory loses caused by his spells, probably didn’t do his sanity any favors.

At times, I like to consider IDW the Seinfeld of the franchise: It’s an action story about nothing!… When do we know when it’s over? XD
 
(Which isn’t to say I still don’t find IDW somewhat entertaining, though. >w< )
