@EyeGuy
I guess because there’s so much wrong with Starlight on a surface level that it’s near-impossible to like her as a whole (most of her fans rely on headcanons, fan fictions or self-booping memes to get total satisfaction from her).
So, you’re admitting Starlight is an objectively terrible character?
Thanks for proving my point. Why should there be a Season 8 if it’s just going to have more of that overpowered creator’s pet?
A lot of the negative EQD comments (like the ones on Mirror Magic) don’t seem to give any indication that these people like the show either.
True that, but a key reason people complain about something they like is that they want it to get “better”. For a lot of people, MLP:FiM “getting better” would require so much erasure of events that it’d be hard for anyone to have considered the show as a whole worth it. Basically DHX is gonna keep throwing mud at the wall in hopes that what they’re doing isn’t going to utterly destroy the franchise’s reputation.
The negative comments ruined my fun for me. They remind me that what I’m watching is objectively terrible, and that I’m an idiot for enjoying it.
Nobody’s an idiot based on what they like to watch. It mostly comes down to environment and personality. There are those who like this show because it feels like an escapism from tough reality, and don’t take any criticism towards it kindly, then there are those that treat every minute detail super seriously, and can’t stand the thought that people can be casual viewers of it. You’re never going to please everyone, but the fact that this fandom got as big as it did is still something to admire, but if you’re weak enough to let other people’s negativity of the show ruin the experience for you, I ask with no sarcasm that you seek help.
Seriously, you won’t believe how many users I’ve seen here that call anyone who likes Starlight an ass-kisser.

Because of this, many of the original fans who care 100% about the show see any sort of support for her, ironic or serious, as some sort of trolling mechanism that’s going to cause the fandom to crumble to bits in the near future.
The thing is you can never please everyone, but in its heyday, MLP:FiM got pretty darn close.
The comments you leave here disappoint me because you give us no indication that you actually like the show, and you seem to want to ruin people people’s fun. I suspect that’s not your intention.

Speaking as one who got way too involved about “how the fandom” felt during the S3 finale, I think I can empathize. The stuff that people have been trying to tell you lately have all been things many of us have already lived through, and we’re genuinely trying to help.
I think, when commenting, it helps to focus entirely on what you enjoyed, and why. Everyone has their own perspectives, and maybe a different perspective might help people.
Speaking as one who has a very hard time letting things go, it is hard to “just ignore the fandom”. I think you’ll find a LOT of people who miss how things used to be (saw your comment in EQD, you’re WanderingPony there, right?) Dude, I miss watching Season 1 in chat rooms with other fans and just having a ridiculously fun time. It sucks when people get hypercritical about a thing you love. I know. We know.
Having been in various fandoms for 20 years, I can definitely say that people can and will get critical of the things they love. They criticize, weirdly enough, because they care a LOT. I mean, I’m a huge fan of Duran Duran, but I can’t stand their Red Carpet Massacre album. Still love the albums after that one, just not a fan of that one work.
On the other hand, I was fan of Game of Thrones (TV Show, never read the books). Season 5 just killed it for me, so I lost interest and walked away.
Something interesting happens; when people actually hate a thing, they stop talking about it because they move on to something else. Usually when people are complaining/criticizing, it actually means they’re still engaged and they still care. More than just a criticism, it often just means some fans are frustrated to varying degrees. Most people who are complaining just didn’t like the thing they watched and are probably feeling disappointed. I think it’s most important to remember that most people very likely don’t want to feel disappointed.
Weirdly, I think the best way to meet criticism is just patience and kindness. Let people vent first, though. But then be supportive.

@ArrJaySketch
I’m trying to remind people that Season 8 is a terrible idea, since people don’t seem to realize it’ll have more of the stuff they hate about the post-Faust seasons.
@EyeGuy So what if people hate it? You can’t change anyone’s opinion.
I’m asking this because I genuinely don’t understand what you’re trying to accomplish. No one’s mind is ever going to be changed by some random dude’s opinion in a comment section.
Oftentimes, it genuinely looks like you’re shitposting in the comments to accomplish….what? How are you going to change anything?
@ArrJaySketch
I care because it seems like there’s more people who hate the show than like it.
And ignoring it isn’t as easy as you think. I have a deviantART friend who became a Starlight hater after Season 6, and I can’t unwatch her for fear of hurting her feelings and making me feel awful as well.
@Background Pony #2861
I actually liked Honest Apple, and so did the majority of the fandom. It seems to be one of the few episodes from the recent seasons that’s generally well-liked.
Can’t wait to see you moan about how they ruined the story of the Apple siblings’ parents.
And really, you’re such a disgrace to your avatar that it’s ridiculous. It’s like seeing someone with a Twilight Sparkle avatar talking about how they hate books and think learning is meaningless.
@EyeGuy
People who are happy generally aren’t as vocal (or vocal at all) as unhappy people, who tend to be very vocal. You’re only seeing people who bother to speak up, not a “consensus”.
Better get the coffins ready.
Yeeeeeeah, about that…
You’re kind of necro-posting. I also think he was banned for awhile (again).
Can you stop with the trolling? Thanks.
I want a whole episode set in pony hell!
Because

I find EQG okay, but I still prefer the main series.
My favorite recent episodes include A Royal Problem, Discordant Harmony, and The Perfect Pear.
So far, I’m liking Season 7, though I’m dreading the inevitable negative fan reaction to the finale.
Here is a very critical question: do you like Equestria Girls? What parts of the latest episodes were your favorites? Did you enjoy S7?
I’m trying to remind people that Season 8 is a terrible idea, since people don’t seem to realize it’ll have more of the stuff they hate about the post-Faust seasons.

I liked it.

Also, find me one person who liked Mirror Magic. Because on EQD, there’s more people who hate it than like it.
Even the Starlight loves hate it, which is saying something.
I meant The Perfect Pear, sorry.
Wrong episode.
@EyeGuy
Can’t please everyone…
No it’s mixed.
