After watching their parents epic self sacrifice, Applejack vows to be the mother to Applebloom that she never had a chance to have.  
Or, they both joined that super secret monster fighting agency that Bon Bon is a member of, they both make regular secret trips to Sweet Apple Acres to visit with Granny Smith, but they both vanish before any of their kids show up, not wanting to involve them in the horrors of monster fighting.  
Or! They could be literally orbiting Equestria at high speeds! Whenever AJ looks up at a pair of shooting stars at night, it’s literally them! In a pony space pod! Simply waiting for gradual reduction in speed so they can safely land in the ocean! And become the heroes they deserve to be as Equestrias first ponies in space!  
(someone posted that idea a year ago when AJ looked up at the shooting stars)  
Now just wait for their next trip into space, Princess Celestia is planning a colonization trip with lots of stallion and mare couples to a distant planet!

The only difference is that Romeo and Juliet were causalities of the feud. Bright Mac and Pear Butter were able to raise a family together, but they died not long after Apple Bloom was born.

Seriously; the writers will just keep being vague about their whereabout so in the upcoming seasons they can bring them back without reckoning anything.

I think the foreknowledge that these two are dead are what made the episode so special

At least these two weren’t possibly so brain dead they needed adults to hold their hands everywhere they went to prevent their idiocy from killing them. How romance came to be represented by two idiots who I wouldn’t trust with a fork next to a power socket I’ll never know.

… But did you know that in the original story of Shakespear, Romeo and Juliet were even younger than that ? If I remember right, they were like, 14 year old ?

I also doubt the show will touch very much on that part… I just want to know the rest of the story! To include what happened and where are they now?

The writers of the show should at least let the viewers know what happened to them.

I’m about to dig out the supposed list of upcoming episodes to try to guess if there’s anymore upcoming Apple episodes…

at least, they got married and in addition made descendants.
