It’s almost as if changing a character’s sex makes it a different character.
The level of critique varies a lot depending on whether this “badass” can be a waifu or a waifu threat, though.
Her disign is ok. The problem I mentioned is that a lot of the people who accept it do so only because its on a girl.
Anyone who’s been part of this fandom long enough knows very well what the reaction would’ve been if she had been a he.

Okay, tell me how you would create a compelling villain design that’s neither forgettable, nor bland, nor over-the-top.
Totally expecting her to have been banished at some point because Celestia seems to think that will work despite it always failing given enough time.
Or she was basically being a Scooby-Doo villain and got caught, but not even arrested due to nepotism, and after that basically became a Ladybug villain. (Sorry, Juniper. You’re cute, but as far as villains go, well, you weren’t exactly Adagio Dazzle.)
The reason those OCs sucked was because of bad writing and/or no understanding of color theory or design, not because of broken horns, scars, or the use of red and black.
